The Procurement Manager is a skilled negotiator holding suppliers accountable to quality standards, timelines, and cost control by establishing favorable terms while also maintaining supplier relations. This individual is results focused, collaborative minded, and a creative problem solver. Effective execution in this role will have a positive impact in all areas of the business and drive the success of the company. This role is accountable for product quality, availability, and cost which requires industry knowledge and trend identification.
This role will collaborate and proactively communicate with departments throughout the organization in an effort to drive sales, support efficient fulfillment, uphold quality and packaging standards and support the financial health of the business. Responsibilities also include staff management and leadership.
Essential Duties:
Supplier Relations and Logistics - Set supplier performance criteria then select partnerships to move buying volume to. Update supplier scorecards to track performance and evaluate suppliers based on results. Hold suppliers accountable to set standards including quality and timeline expectations. Proactively seek feedback from customers and warehouse teams regarding product expectations and quality standards being met. Negotiate favorable terms for each purchase and ensure timely delivery. Maintain effective supplier relationships. Manage the flow of goods from suppliers through production and quality control/testing processes. Engage in continuous improvement efforts.
Inventory Planning - Determine adequate stocking levels based on forecasts and trends. Develop a procurement strategy that supports customer demand. Organize historical data and existing inventory data. Communicate future purchase needs and financing needs proactively. Seek out and establish an understanding of future availability and cost trends. Lead communication and training on availability and cost trend information.
Systems - Identify and optimize the systems needed for the procurement team needs and ensure the systems are being fully utilized by suppliers and internal teams. Maintain data and ensure accurate reporting of supplier interactions, finances relating to procurement operations, and flow of inventory. Prepare reports on purchases, suppliers, stocking levels, cost analyses, sales trends, and more.
Leadership - Manage staff with ongoing training, coaching, and counseling. Appraise performance and hold employees accountable, acknowledge positive results and deliver corrective actions when needed. The Procurement Manager facilitates and participates in management meetings and company process discussions. This role reports directly to the Director of Operations.
