Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Hires, trains and/or implement training and developing areas for improvement within the resources assigned to the manage area.
  • Organizes supply chain schedules of assigned staff.
  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement innovative and cost-effective procurement strategies.
  • source reliable suppliers and vendors based on project requirements and initiate business and organization partnerships.
  • Compare proposals and offers for price and specifications and negotiate contracts with suppliers and vendors to secure advantageous terms.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with vendors and suppliers in the industry.
  • Examine existing contracts with suppliers and vendors to ensure ongoing feasibility.
  • Conduct risk assessments on potential contracts and agreements.
  • Collaborate closely with the legal department to make sure contract terms are favorable to the company.
  • Control the procurement budget and build a culture of long-term savings on procurement costs.
  • Approve purchase orders of goods and services and finalize details of delivery.
  • Manage technological systems that track shipments, inventory, and supply of goods.
  • Track and update relevant departments regarding changes in the prices of goods and vendor pricing.
  • Monitor key functional metrics and create daily, weekly and monthly procurement reports to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.
  • Ensure adherence to all safety, health and environmental regulations.

Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in similar role
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
  • Experience on local (US) and international trends of purchasing and supply chain strategies withing food manufacturing.
  • Full understanding of the food manufacturing industry.
  • Ability to identify growth opportunities and develop plans accordingly with the business needs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both oral and written.
  • Ability to complete work within given deadlines.

  • Work is primarily conducted in an office environment but may require duties within a large, open floor Production area.
  • Loud machinery, requiring workers to wear ear protection to guard against noise.
  • Frequent exposure to cool to cold temperatures for long periods.
  • Workers are required to wear hair and beard nets, and gloves to protect the product from possible contamination. Workers are also required to wear and are provided with personal protective equipment such as frocks and nonslip shoes/boots.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 40 pounds.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
