Get out of your plant and see the world! You know how to run a profitable operation, now help other plant managers do the same! You love to be the visionary behind new systems and processes, and while you can also bring your vision to life, it’s more fulfilling when you can inspire others to help you do so. You can bring order to chaos, jumping from project to project without getting stuck in them.
STOP READING THIS AND GO LOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE UNLESS YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING:
- Experience managing personnel and processes in heavy industrial facilities (not just running a nice clean assembly line, but out in the field, where your people need OSHA-30, Site-Specific, a hole-watch, and they’ve gotta do a JSA every morning)
- A gift for dreaming up and implementing new systems and processes
- The ability to simplify complex topics and communicate them to others
You’re someone who can perform under pressure. If this describes you, or who you aspire to be, we want to talk. Go to .
I’m CJ Horecky, a 4th generation son of American Industry. I lead the team of process experts at INTEREP, who are fighting every day to Rebuild American Industry. I’m the one you’re going to report to, and I take a personal stake in every member of our team, so I’m writing this job-ad because I care about who you are, not just what you do. We are looking for team members who will PERFORM:

- Performance Under Pressure: We excel under high-pressure situations, 24/7, prioritizing respectful communication while delivering the right product, at the right place, at the right time.
- Eternal Perspective: With an eye to the long-term, we choose the right path over the quick fix, ensuring our actions can always stand up to scrutiny.
- Rigor: We stand out through our meticulous attention to detail, catching what others miss to provide peace of mind to all stakeholders.
- Foresight: We shrewdly share information with external entities, preserving our internal advantages while maintaining absolute honesty in our dealings.
- Ownership: We cultivate a culture of Extreme Ownership, encouraging transparency, honesty, humility, and vulnerability within our team.
- Responsiveness: Always organized and ahead of the curve, we're prepared to respond swiftly and proactively to needs, always prioritizing communication and fast response times.
- Make Money Together: We uphold a belief in collective success, understanding that when one wins, we all win, and reflect this in our compensation structure.
I’m not going to waste your time with a bunch of tedious questions and cover letters, etc. The odds are this isn’t the position for you. It takes a special person to enjoy the unique culture of INTEREP, it’s gonna turn a lot of people off. If you want to find out if we’re a fit for you, just take this quick 6 minute survey (https://go.cultureindex.com/p/r7IPSAQ1yHQzrd4) to be considered. It’ll ask for your cover letter (optional) and resume (required - I assume you’ve got one, or you wouldn’t be reading this post).
Details on the position:
You'll be leading a small, fast-growing team (2 engineers, 2 project coordinators) with the goal of systematization, codification, and growth. You're not just going to make sure the trains are running on time, you're going to help us build better trains, hire new talent, and grow at scale. You'll be the key person for supplier relations, engineering process design, intellectual property management, and supply-chain efficiency. The team you'll be leading is already filled with top-talent, but you'll be tasked with helping them reach their full potential, and hiring more people like them.
What your work week will look like:
You’ve already got a nice home office setup, when you’re there (whenever you're not visiting suppliers, supporting key customer meetings, or qualifying sub-vendors) you’ll meet daily with our all-remote team for a quick 15-minute morning huddle. From there, you'll have a few core duties, such as:
- Ensuring your direct reports are operating at peak efficiency, are fulfilled, working in the proper role, and enjoying their jobs
- Improving efficiency by coordinating with our Senior Applications Engineer and in-house coding and development teams to build new systems and processes, new drawing and calculation tools, etc.
- Working directly with company ownership to align priorities and plan next steps (ensuring your vision is accomplishing our vision)
- Acting as the final point of ownership on technical approvals, large quotes, orders, and critical expenditures (you will be our fine-tooth comb for things that could come back to bite us)
- Reviewing, interviewing, and hiring candidates to build out our operations team
- Deal with random personnel issues on the team you've built (that's right, leading people is not all sunshine and roses!)
- Helping solve critical customer problems by providing answers and solutions
- Writing technical papers and developing presentations for industry groups
- Training our team on customer plant-processes and our own products and capabilities
- Giving presentations for stakeholders, customers, and larger external audiences (you'd better be comfortable with public speaking)
What you bring to the table:
- Experience profitably managing an industrial facility or department by getting things done through others (cement plants, chemical plants, power plants, steel mills, oil refineries, etc)
- Engineering or management degree strongly preferred, but not required
- 5+ years (or professional equivalent) of proven experience leading and a team
