General Purpose and Scope of Position:

The Plant Manager will be responsible for the manufacturing and administrative aspects of managing and leading a plant. As the leader of the Facilities Operations, this individual will be responsible for all staff operations to ensure the safety of employees and the efficient and safe handling of ingredients into the facility, processing activities within the facility, and shipments of all finished products from the facility.

Key Skills and Abilities Include:

  • Minimum five years experience in the management of feed mill/manufacturing setting
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant industry (can be supplemented with experience)
  • Strong technical knowledge in manufacturing production practices and best practices
  • A professional individual with strong leadership and organizational skills, able to prioritize tasks
  • A team player who excels at communicating, relationship building, and staff development
  • Demonstrated capacity to problem solve in a complex environment by leading teams
  • Ability to efficiently manage production costs and align these costs to the volume produced
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced and changing work environment
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional departments to meet performance objectives
  • Ability to implement and oversee company policy regarding Food Safety & worker safety
  • Moderate PC experience is a must

Specific Responsibilities and Key Deliverables Include:

  • Implement and support all aspects of company policy, including food and worker safety.
  • Ensure product quality meets the requirements of the customer and the product manufactured.
  • Work with other functions to ensure compliance with all Food Safety Guidelines, FDA and OSHA guidelines, and Federal and State workplace laws.
  • Responsibilities include managing daily operations and planning materials and human resources. Oversee all plant operation functions including but not limited to receiving, production planning, production process, storage of materials (on and off-site), maintenance, and logistics.
  • Direct and coordinate activities of staff concerned with the production, purchase, distribution of products, food safety, and customer service
  • Establish administrative controls and metrics to evaluate and maintain performance objectives. Determine areas needing cost reduction and program improvement.
  • Accountable for Operating Expense Management
  • Assist the Director of Operations in preparing annual expense and capital budget for all operational and administrative activities.
  • Champion engagement among his team: mentoring, developing, and coaching the team, including designing and/or promoting established programs to achieve objectives in this area.
  • Identify, Develop, Implement, and Maintain Operating Procedures that drive efficient utilization of company assets.
  • Oversee all infrastructure related to operations for the location, such as offices, warehouses, rail sidings, and land lots. Monitor the facility to ensure that it remains safe, secure, and well-maintained
  • Determine staffing requirements, interview, hire, and assure appropriate training of new employees, and oversee all other personnel processes
  • Other duties customary of such a position and other responsibilities as assigned

Compensation and Benefits:

  • In compliance with all states and cities requiring transparency of pay, the base compensation for this position ranges from $82,300 - $109,780. Note that salary may vary based on location, skills, and experience. This position is eligible for vacation, holidays, health, dental, vision, mental health, retirement plans, and other benefits.
