Job Summary/Objective: The Personal Trainer is responsible for providing one-on-one fitness training and guidance to clients in order to help them achieve their individual fitness goals. They assess clients' current fitness levels, design personalized exercise programs, provide instruction on proper exercise techniques, and offer ongoing support and motivation. The Personal Trainer plays a crucial role in helping clients improve their overall health, fitness, and well-being through personalized training sessions.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct initial fitness assessments with clients to evaluate their current fitness levels, goals, medical history, and lifestyle factors.
  • Design and develop customized exercise programs tailored to each client’s goals, preferences, and abilities. This includes selecting appropriate exercises, determining sets and repetitions, and establishing realistic targets.
  • Provide one-on-one instruction and demonstrate proper exercise techniques to clients, ensuring safety, efficiency, and effectiveness.
  • Monitor clients’ progress and track their performance, adjusting exercise programs as needed to ensure continuous improvement and goal achievement.
  • Offer ongoing guidance, motivation, and support to clients during training sessions, helping them stay accountable and committed to their fitness journey.
  • Educate clients on the principles of nutrition, healthy lifestyle habits, and proper recovery techniques to optimize their fitness results.
  • Ensure clients’ safety during training sessions by closely observing their form, technique, and exertion levels, and making necessary corrections or modifications.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, including assessments, progress tracking, and any relevant notes or modifications to the exercise program.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest fitness research, trends, and industry developments to continually enhance training methods and program offerings.
  • Maintain a clean and organized training environment, including the proper setup, maintenance, and sanitization of equipment.
Requirements/Qualifications:

Certification: Possess a nationally recognized personal training certification (e.g., NASM, ACE, ACSM) or a certification relevant to the training specialty (e.g., corrective exercise, sports performance).
Education: A degree in exercise science, kinesiology, or a related field is preferred, but not required.
Experience: Prior experience as a personal trainer or in a related fitness role is beneficial. Experience working with diverse populations and individuals with varying fitness levels and goals is desirable.
Knowledge: Strong understanding of human anatomy, exercise physiology, and biomechanics. Familiarity with a variety of training techniques, equipment, and exercise modalities.
Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with clients and provide clear instructions. Ability to listen actively and empathetically to clients' needs and concerns.
Motivational Skills: Ability to inspire and motivate clients, setting realistic goals and providing ongoing support and encouragement.
Professionalism: Professional demeanor, reliability, and punctuality. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle client inquiries or concerns in a professional manner.
CPR/AED Certification: Possess a current, First Aid, CPR and AED certification or willingness to obtain one.
