GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The Personal Trainer is responsible for successful leadership and smooth operations of the WAC’s fitness and fitness programs, and is accountable for fitness planning, testing, instruction, coaching, evaluations, and motivation. The position enhances the WAC's mission by, for example, keeping programs current with Member interests, updating fitness plans, and personally providing training that enables Members to accomplish lifestyle changes, prepare for sport events, or attain and retain peak performance as it relates to their personal fitness goals.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participates in Athletic Department meetings, and works with the Fitness Managers, Supervisors, and other Team Members to model WAC values and contribute to the WAC's mission, vision, and values.
  • Plans, designs, and tests fitness and conditioning programs to meet Member needs and works closely with Members to update training programs. Also responsible for specialty areas such as free weights, strength training, nutrition, motivation, fat loss, total body conditioning, sport specific training, and cardiovascular training.
  • Coordinates and provides one-on-one personal trainer services working closely with Members, and, when appropriate, physicians, to develop Member’s fitness goals, provide on-going instruction and coaching, and working closely with Members to evaluate accomplishments.
  • Leads and instructs fitness training, is responsible for facilities, equipment, billing, safety and security functions, and handles Member complaints and concerns between Members when necessary.
  • Works closely with Team Members and is responsible for providing input on visionary, Member-focused, and responsive fitness program concepts, communications, and promotions.
  • Enforces fitness safety and health guidelines and is responsible for emergency service duties including 911 calls, CPR, and first aid.
  • Actively solicits feedback, participates and monitors WAC’s fitness programs, and works with Fitness Managers, Supervisors, and other Team Members to improve programs and services.
  • Performs other specific projects, duties and responsibilities as needed.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • The person holding this position must have one to five years’ of progressively successful professional fitness and conditioning instruction, evaluation and personal training experience with outstanding people, problem solving, communications, and training skills in specialty areas, or equivalent.
  • Completion of B.A or B.S degree in related field or Certification with ACSM, NSCA, NASM or equivalent
  • A high ability to communicate effectively with members and team members both in person and on the phone.
