Job Description Summary:
The Personal Trainer has the responsibility of developing, implementing, and supervising personalized exercise prescriptions and lifestyle programs with, but not limited to, individuals with different fitness levels, medical concerns, and/ or different age populations in order to maximize the safety of each user and to promote the overall health and wellness and quality of life for the client. He/ she must possess solid coaching and teaching skills and must have the ability to assess an individual's lifestyle habits, medical history, the present level of fitness and goals before designing an exercise prescription for that individual. He/ she must have the ability to work closely with other healthcare professionals such as physicians and physical therapists in order to provide an appropriate exercise prescription. The personal trainer is ultimately responsible for marketing his/ her personal training services and building a clientele base. The employee is subject to call back and overtime as required by the hospital.

Assess an individual's lifestyle habits, medical history, present level of fitness and goals before designing and implementing an exercise prescription for that individual.

Design an individualized program for each client he/she works with including development of outcomes and follow-up with outcomes and goal obtainment.

Designs programs to increase strength, cardiovascular endurance, flexibility, and overall health and improve quality of life for the general population.

Recommends a well-rounded program that may include group fitness and other activities within the wellness center

Promotes the facility's related fitness services to users and guests.

Greets all members and guests when they enter and leave the fitness area with a consistently positive attitude and friendly greeting and works to ensure that he/she learns each individual's name.

Works to establish a good working relationship with all members and co-workers.

Works with other healthcare professionals including but not limited to physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, nurses to provide appropriate exercise prescriptions.

Recognizes member issues that are beyond the scope of the personal trainer's practice and refers to the appropriate health care professional ( i.e. physical therapist, physician, dietitian, nurse, massage therapist, psychologist)

Responsible for keeping the fitness area and equipment neat, clean and well maintained.

Responsible for selling personal training packages, marketing personal training services, and scheduling personal training clients

Assists in facilitating personal contact between users when they are on the exercise floor and strives to connect members with other members

Performs related responsibilities as required or directed.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION:

currently certified through ACSM, NASM, NSCA, NETA, ACE, PTA Global Inc., NFPT, NESTA, NCSF, IFPA, CI, ACTION, AAPTE or another certifying body that is accredited through the NCCA

CPR/ AED must be obtained within the 90 day probationary period

CEUs for certifications must be up to date
