The MP In Motion department is the pulse of My Possibilities. As the Personal Trainer, you would have the honor and privilege to directly support our HIPsters and make every day count for them. The Personal Trainer supports our HIPsters in and out of the gym/classroom and collaborates with staff/manager to coordinate needed support and communication with families. Success factors include compassion for different abilities/disabilities, a calm, predictable approach to difficult situations, the ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment, and a passion for serving our mission. Thinking of HIPsters first in all decision-making, strong communication skills with HIPsters, staff, and community members, as well as creative problem solving will make you a great fit for this role.

Essential Functions:
- Planning and scheduling of HIPster workout sessions, based on knowledge of HIPster fitness goals, creating individualized and modified workout sessions with the ability to adapt workouts to meet varying levels of HIPster cognition and physical ability, and the understanding of HIPster safety and health risks prior to hosting any workout session
- Communication with parents regarding HIPster registration and progress in the MP In Motion Program, as well as service updates and maintenance of client list and detailed documentation of all workout sessions
- Plan and attend boot camps on Saturdays when scheduled
- Attend monthly Zoom calls with caregivers when scheduled
- Attend book club(s) with MP In Motion when scheduled
- Ability to provide a full physical assessment to HIPsters within MP In Motion Program
- Maintain the equipment within MP In Motion Program
Competencies (Knowledge, skills, and abilities):
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, communication skills, and commitment to team working
- Able to communicate verbally and in writing effectively (sign language a plus)
- An understanding of the needs of adults with intellectual disabilities, particularly those with complex emotional, social, or medical needs and behavioral difficulties
- Ability to keep accurate records
- Flexibility and initiative are essential
- Ability to approach sensitive situations in a non-judgmental way
- Confident and able to be assertive when necessary
- Commitment towards HIPster and families, combined with a professional approach
- The ability to organize work, prioritize, and make effective decisions while working under pressure
Education:
- High School Diploma and/or GED is required
- Personal Training Certification is required
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Experience:
- 2+ years of experience with people with intellectual disabilities a plus
- Personal training or physical fitness training experience is required
- Knowledge of different applications used on the computer: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook email, Teams, and web browsers such as Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Internet Explorer
Specialized Knowledge, Skills, Licenses, etc.:
- Current driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and valid car insurance required
- Must be able to clear a background check with no related offenses jeopardizing the integrity of our program
- Certified in CPR/First Aid/AED/SAMA or CPI/HIPPA
- Personal Trainer Certification

Supervisory Responsibilities:
- This is a non-supervisory position and does not require the management of any employees
Working Conditions:
- Most activities occur in a gymnasium or similar facility using a variety of exercise equipment. Must be able to lift 25 lbs. regularly and up to 100 lbs. occasionally
