Your Mission:

The mission of the People Operations Specialist is to empower MDCers, attract talent aligned with MDC's culture, and cultivate a performance-driven environment by providing developmental and engagement activities, leading recruitment initiatives, and overseeing and executing day-to-day activities to ensure excellence in the employee experience, fostering an engaged and skilled workforce.


The People Operations Specialist will play a key role in supporting various functions, with a focus on employee lifecycle management, HRIS administration, and especially employee engagement initiatives. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and passionate about creating an exceptional employee experience.


Individuals in this role adopt an employee-centric approach, treating employees as valued clients, striving to support their success, and cultivating pride in their work.


What You'll Be Doing:

  • Manage the end-to-end employee lifecycle processes, including onboarding, offboarding and employee changes
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS data, ensuring data integrity and compliance with relevant regulations
  • Coordinate and facilitate new hire orientation sessions to ensure a smooth transition for new employees
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to streamline People Operations processes and improve efficiency
  • Assist with the development and implementation of People Operations policies, procedures, and programs
  • Support employee relations efforts by responding to inquiries, resolving issues, and escalating as needed
  • Collaborate with the People Operations team to plan and execute employee engagement initiatives, such as team events, recognition programs, and wellness initiatives
  • Contribute to the design and delivery of training and development programs to support employee growth and skill development
  • Stay current on People Operations trends, best practices, and regulatory changes to ensure compliance and continuous improvement

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bilingual – English and Spanish
  • Minimum 2 years of people operations/human resources experience; familiarity with Mexico employment laws a plus
  • Strong understanding of People Operations processes and best practices, including compliance requirements
  • High comfort level with HRIS systems
  • Proficient with Google Workspace and related software
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels
  • Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; additional years of experience considered in lieu of
  • SHRM or HRCI certification is a plus

Work Arrangement:

  • Hybrid in McAllen, TX
