Description:
The Parts Manager is responsible for running a profitable and efficient parts department for a high volume, fast paced division. The Parts Manager will accomplish objectives using proper purchasing procedures, inventory control, staff utilization, security, pricing, merchandising, displaying, and advertising. The ideal candidate must be a profit producer.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
MANAGEMENT RELATED:
- Forecast goals and objectives for the department and strive to meet them.
- Assesses present and future needs, trends, problems, and profit opportunities of the Parts Department.
- Establishes short and long-term operating and financial objectives for the Parts Department within the Company’s overall plans and policies.
- Strive for harmony and teamwork with all other departments.
- Work with Service Manager to ensure a timely turnaround of parts needed for internal jobs.
- Prepare and administer an annual operating budget for the parts department.
- Attend managers’ meetings.
- Understand, keep abreast of, and comply with federal, state, and local regulations that may affect parts sales.
- Ensures that approved policies and objectives are clearly understood and effectively applied within the department.
- Reviews and appraises the results of activities within the department and takes appropriate actions as necessary.
- Develops merchandising strategies to ensure the objectives are obtained.
- Maintains appropriate communication between all departments within the dealership.
- Promotes safe work habits and ensures that safety rules are followed.
- Develops and maintains policies and practices which will ensure positive customer relations.
PERSONNEL RELATED:
- Hires, trains, motivates, and monitors the performance of all parts department staff.
- Direct and schedule the activities of all parts department’s employees.
- Provide technical assistance to parts department employees.
- Conduct meetings with parts department employees to discuss activities and problems of mutual interest and to develop strategies for a more efficient operation.
- Ensure that all employees follow their assigned work schedules and plan and ensure coverage for the Department.
CUSTOMER DEPARTMENT RELATED
- Make customer satisfaction a department priority, ensuring that service and parts personnel are courteous and respectful in their interaction with customers.
- Supervises stock order procedures.
- Ensure that incoming inventory is stocked in the correct location.
- Maintain a balanced inventory consistent with the requirements of the defined areas.
- Accurately price parts and accessories using the proper pricing source and keep the computer system up to date.
- Serve as liaison with factory representatives.
- Demonstrates behaviors consistent with the Company’s Values in all interactions with customers, co-workers, and vendors.
Qualifications
- Dealership Management Experience is a must.
- 3+ years’ experience as a Parts Manager within a dealership
- Well-versed within the parts and service departments
- Valid driver’s license with good driving record
- Prior experience managing a team or in a supervisory capacity.
- A team player who is focused on providing exemplary customer service.
- Great customer service skills.
- Detail oriented, teamwork driven, and organized.
- Ability to work well in a process driven fast paced environment.
- Professional appearance and work ethic.
