Part-time Job Announcement

Position: Part-time Campus Police Officer

Location: Athens Campus

Department: Division of Student Affairs

Reports to: Chief of Police and the Vice President for Student Affairs

Salary/Benefits: Salary is commensurate with education and experience. No State of Georgia benefits.

Responsibilities:

  • Patrol the campus and buildings on foot and/or in a vehicle in order to deter crime, provide safety, security and assistance to students, staff and visitors on campus.
  • Enforce traffic and parking regulations.
  • Investigate disturbances, suspicious circumstances, traffic accidents or violation of college regulations when prompted by phone calls, alarms, citizens' requests, or officers' observations.
  • Talk with individuals to determine causes of disturbances or accidents.
  • Take reports and accurately complete forms to record incidents.
  • Direct traffic at campus events using barricades, traffic cones, traffic vests, and flashlights.
  • Must be familiar with the campus safety manual and be able to address emergencies on campus.
  • Participate in training activities.
  • Work closely with the Athens Technical College Police Chief, Police Supervisor, Campus Administrators and Security Officers.
  • Perform related work as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Georgia POST Certified with Basic Law Enforcement Mandate in ‘Good Standing.’
  • Must have general law enforcement authority in the jurisdiction of the assigned campus.
  • A Criminal History Report, Motor Vehicle Report (MVR), and Drug Testing will be required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 21 years of age.
  • Knowledge of the Jeanne Clery Act and BIT.
  • Campus Police experience.
