Position Summary:

The Division of Finance and Administration (DFA) provides services and support to over 50,000 students, faculty, and staff with the mission of advancing UCI’s brilliant future and the vision of becoming world-class campus partners. UCI Transportation and Distribution Services oversees all transportation planning, parking, and mail services at the University of California, Irvine. Under the close supervision of the enforcement supervisors, the student and volunteer programs coordinator works primarily outdoors and assists the campus community and visitors with navigating a complex parking system consisting of approximately 20,000 parking stalls, 64 surface lots, and five parking structures. The incumbent provides consistent enforcement of parking facilities in assigned campus zones and maintaining up-to-day knowledge of permit types, parking privileges, enforcement practices, and campus layout. Additional responsibilities include to assist develop and coordinate the recruitment, selection, training and scheduling processes for the unit’s student and volunteer services programs.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $23.61 - $27.66 (Hourly Rate). The Full Salary Range for the salary grade this position is assigned to is $23.61 - $31.15 (Hourly Rate).

Required:
  • Two years or more of parking enforcement experience, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Ability to coordinate the organization and implementation of services and programs.
  • Ability to communicate and motivate employees.
  • Ability to follow through on assignments and work independently, receiving only general direction.
  • Ability to adapt to rapid and frequent changes in operational procedures and working environment.
  • Ability to prioritize and coordinate work.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships in a diverse and team-based department.
  • Knowledge of security and emergency management and response principals, including local and state laws, regulations, and procedures
  • Ability to understand and enforce the California Vehicle Code as it relates to parking and bicycle enforcement.
  • Capable of interacting with a diverse population in a high-volume, customer-focused work environment and making quick decisions in a field setting.
  • Knowledge of effective conflict resolution skills with the ability to maintain equanimity in the face of resistance, indifference, and hostility.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all members of the community, demonstrate sound judgment, tact and integrity, act with courtesy, resourcefulness, and initiative.
  • Computer literacy including ability to utilize Parking’s, wireless handheld devices and software, license plate recognition camera and software, and a variety of computer applications.


Preferred:
  • Knowledge of UC/UCI policies and procedures. Knowledge of UCI campus layout (buildings, roadways, and parking lots)
  • Knowledge of the California Vehicle Code.
  • Some knowledge in regards to impounding/releasing vehicles.
  • Knowledge of adjudication/citation appeals process. Basic knowledge of a hand-held, two-way radio system.
  • Basic knowledge hand-held ticket writer. Knowledge of traffic signs, traffic barricading, and associated equipment.
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to traffic control and scene security and protection.
  • Familiarity with the department’s on-line systems such as EPICS, Electronic Educational Environment (EEE), Antpark, and When to Work.
