Job Description
1. Provide DBA operational support with a high degree of customer service, technical expertise, and timeliness.
2. Ensuring assigned Oracle Databases are well tuned and requires in-depth working knowledge of Oracle Performance Tuning tools and strong analytical skills.
3. Engage with all efforts related with technical architecture requirements within Oracle solutions. Works with the Lead and team for all Oracle database issues.
4. Interface with the Enterprise Architecture and Infosec teams to follow certain company and industry specific standards.
5. Strong Infrastructure knowledge for Compute, Network, Storage, Security, HA/DR.
6. Knowledge of various Oracle appliances such as Exadata preferred and ZFS/ZDLRA desired.
7. Ability to actively participate doing hands-on work in Proof-of-Concept projects to demonstrate certain capabilities for the proposed solution.
8. Create Architecture diagrams, HLD, LLD and document the overall solution.
9. Will work closely with infrastructure teams (servers, network, etc.) to troubleshoot and resolve problems.
10. Coordinate with other team members to ensure software consistency across the Oracle landscape.
11. Will participate in the IT Change Management process and validate/approval all Oracle database related changes.
12. Proactively keeps abreast of new developments and forecasts of future trends in the areas of database technology.
13. Provide input on, and support new projects affecting the Oracle database landscape.
14. Engage and interface directly with Oracle as required for product support/questions.
15. Defines solutions by identifying requirements and writing functional specifications; consults with technical subject matter experts.
16. Participate in on-call rotation with other DBA team members and perform weekend maintenance as assigned.
17. Advises on options, risks, costs versus benefits and impact on other business processes and system priorities; contributes to cost versus benefit measures.
18. Performs related duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Requires a BS Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent.
2. Requires a minimum of ten (10) years directly related and progressively responsible experience in supporting architecture design and implementation.
3. Requires heavy Performance Tuning experience and perform complex analysis of performance issues. Requires in-depth familiarity with SQL Patches, SQL Plan Management, Optimizer behavior, Oracle Parameters etc.
4. Must have experience with Oracle RAC installation, patching, and support on Oracle 12c/19c.
5. Requires experience with implementation, operating, and performance management of Enterprise systems on Oracle Databases in the Exadata environment.
6. Extensive experience with RMAN, Data Guard, Oracle Security products/feature such as Data Vault, TDE etc. required.
7. Strong working knowledge of Linux shell scripting/Python/Perl for developing automation and monitoring.
8. Experience with other tools such as Oracle Enterprise Manager tools a plus.
Candidates having experience working with 3rd party ‘bolt-on’ applications including but not limited to SAP, Vendavo, StreamServe, and EDI is a plus.
