About the USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work

The University of Southern California has established a Department of Nursing in affiliation with its renowned Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work. Working within a growing, interdisciplinary institution, faculty members have the opportunity to teach in a creative graduate nursing program.

The Department of Nursing invites applications for instruction positions for non-tenure part-time teaching faculty. We are looking for candidates who can effectively implement the program curriculum, possess knowledge of graduate advanced practice nursing education, and are able to conduct online courses with some on-campus intensives for simulations and skills assessments.

The online environment features small, video-enabled seminars that promote faculty-student dialogue. We seek candidates who can work well in a team environment, work collaboratively with inter-professional leadership, and who value knowledge translation to advance clinical care and health policy change. Promoting the health of diverse populations and managing complex care needs of vulnerable populations are priorities.

Qualifications Sought

Required qualifications for all positions include a doctoral degree in nursing (PhD/DNP), health, human services, education, management, or other a related discipline; MSN currently in doctoral study will also be considered. Applicants will be eligible for California R.N. licensure and CA Nurse-Practitioner certification. National certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner is required with a minimum of two years of prior professional experience as an FNP. The candidate must have the ability and commitment to maintain national certification through clinical practice.

Applicants who are interested in the position should possess formal training or coursework in teaching, along with exceptional academic performance. We are seeking self-directed individuals who can work well within broadly defined parameters and are adept at communication. A commitment to evidence-based practice and nursing research is highly valued. Successful candidates must be able to work effectively with diverse groups of people within a multidisciplinary environment. They must also possess a keen interest in leveraging new technological tools to engage students in a virtual classroom setting.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities for all positions include working with the MSN-FNP Director and faculty to implement the program’s curriculum. Applicants will teach either or both theory and clinically-focused courses.

Locations

Available position(s) are located at the University Park Campus (UPC) in Los Angeles. Some travel may be required.

The salary range for this position is $2,304 per unit.
