Seeking early-career Mechanical Engineer to support development and operation of Integrated Systems Test Cells. This engineer will be responsible for the design, fabrication, and operation of custom test cells to include automated control and data collection systems for research and developmental testing. In this role, you will complete test stand fabrication, integration, and validation activities for Process Technology Research with a focus on Energy Transition, Renewable Fuels, and Sustainable Chemistries.


The candidate will work with Research Teams, Design Engineering, and Internal Stakeholders to develop custom test systems using contract requirements, statements of work, and specifications. And work within a team of experienced multi-disciplinary engineers incorporating project management disciplines. This includes the planning to schedules and arrangement of the labor and equipment required for the safe testing and evaluation of test units.


Responsibilities

  • Design, fabrication, assembly, wiring, programming, installation, troubleshooting and documentation of mechanical, electrical, & structural aspects of the test stand
  • Design, Fabrication, and Installation of data acquisition and control systems
  • Create test cases and detailed test procedures, documentation of the test cases and operation of equipment to execute the test cases for validation
  • Document and communicate test case results

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • 1+ years of work experience
  • Strong mechanical Aptitude and an interest in a hands-on position is required

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Automated control systems is beneficial, but not required
  • Knowledge of Instrumentation systems is beneficial, but not required
  • Knowledge of Piping systems is beneficial, but not required
  • Aptitude for debugging and troubleshooting system issue is beneficial, but not required
  • System installation from layout of components and conduit to ability to wire and label system is beneficial, but not required
  • Skilled with soldering techniques is beneficial, but not required
  • Knowledge of electronic circuitry and components is beneficial, but not required
  • Basic mechanical and hand tool skills including welding, grinding, cutting, assembling nuts & bolts type parts, as well as dynamic systems
  • Basic electronic testing using Digital Volt/Ohm Meters, Digital Oscilloscopes, Function Generators, etc.
  • Knowledge of safety guidelines related to test stand design and operation
  • Technical report writing
