Employment Information

The engineer will be working within the Rolling Technology, Process-Engineering & Research and Development group.

As part of this group, you will be both working independently, and with-in a group environment. Your responsibilities will include both helping to bring new core equipment to the Long Rolling sector of the steel industry, and improving existing equipment based on customer and site feedback.

While most of our projects lean toward the field of mechanical engineering, they still require a basic understanding of fluids and automation, and the ability to work across disciplines.

As with other industries, current trends in both this market and technology have led us into Industry 4.0, so our current development stream is more focused on Robotics & Vision systems to improve our core product line and processes. Along with this a newer development stream is being started to focus on reducing the industries impact on the environment.

For applicants willing to travel, there is ample opportunity to follow their project through its life cycle from Concept, development engineering manufacture, installation, and commissioning.

This role offers hybrid working with an expected 3 days in the office.

Requirements:

  • 2 + years of Engineering experience working with mechanical equipment or robotics.
  • Proficient with the creation of detail engineering and Assembly drawings in a 3D Environment.
  • Critical thinking and troubleshooting skills.
  • The ability to work within a team and as a sole contributor.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Desire to learn and expand their current skillset.

Preferred Criteria:

  • Ability /desire to travel nationally and internationally.
  • Experience with large systems and equipment.
  • FEA experience.
  • Solidworks and Autocad experience.

Optional Criteria:

The following knowledge sets are not expected, however if present the above requirements are more flexible:

  • Working knowledge of Python, C#, C++, or C.
  • Computer Vision experience, both software/hardware.
  • Robotic experience, preferably FANUC, TP or Karel.
  • PLC experience (TIA, Siemens, or Rockwell).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $85,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
