Job purpose

Under the direction of the Material Management Assistant Manager, this position coordinates and maintains production, import and purchase, and plan to support both material and finished good requirements.

Duties and responsibilities

· With guidance from Material Management Assistant Manager, develop production and inventory management plans to support both material and finished good requirements.

· Develop proper production plans to meet sales forecasts and customer delivery requirements.

· Ensure that Finish goods inventory levels are sufficient to meet customer demand while minimizing excess inventory and associated costs.

· Review inventory status and stock at risk daily.

· Promptly address and resolve production issues to minimize delays in production.

· Keep the Sales team informed of any risk of delivery delays.

· Interacts with QC regarding production problems that result in rejections or conditional material.

· Evaluate direct and indirect material to ensure optimal inventory levels for production.

· Develop reprocessing plans to make obsolete/defective inventory active.

· Develop and implement procurement strategies and policies to optimize purchasing activities and achieve cost savings while meeting quality and delivery requirements.

· Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers.

· Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions with vendors to secure favorable pricing and contractual agreements.

· Manage the purchase order process, ensuring accurate and timely purchase order creation, issuance, and tracking.

· Oversee the supplier evaluation and qualification process.

· Resolve supplier-related issues, including disputes, quality concerns, delivery delays, and payment discrepancies.

· Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and quality assurance, to ensure alignment and effective communication throughout the procurement process.

· Supervise and provide guidance to MRO buyer, including training, performance evaluation, and professional development initiatives.
Comply with all federal, state, and local occupational health and safety laws, regulations and relevant compliance obligations related to the occupational health and safety aspect of SSA.

· Ensure continuous improvement in the purchasing process.

· Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

· High school diploma or GED.

· 3-5 years’ experience in purchasing, accounting, production planning or related experience.

· Excellent operation knowledge of purchasing, production planning, and inventory controlling.

· Knowledge of all areas of supply chain management, MRP, JIT, and ERP system.

· Strong customer service skills.

· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

· Advanced skills using Microsoft Office and ERP systems.

· Ability to read and interpret documents, business forms and regulations accurately.

· Ability to write routine reports and correspondence professionally.

· Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

· Ability to perform basic math operations, including but not limited to adding subtracting, multiplying dividing in all units of measures.

· Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw/interpret charts/ graphs.

· Ability to carry out detailed written and oral instructions accurately and timely.

· Ability to troubleshoot problems quickly and effectively.
