Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Plant Manager to oversee our manufacturing operations. The Plant Manager will be responsible for ensuring efficient production, maintaining quality standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
The Plant Manager is responsible for safely producing high quality, profitable products while leading the manufacturing site team and upholding all company policies while creating a positive working environment. This position is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the manufacturing plants and their employees. Duties include hiring and training manufacturing employees, reviewing production records, ensuring Plant is meeting and exceeding performance standards, and coordinating with corporate management for financial controls and Plant safety. This position also ensures quality objectives and goals are achieved to improve product quality and push into the future of sustainability. Lastly, this position coordinates with Human Resource to build professional working relationships between employees and management.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Ensure a safe working environment within all areas of the Plant while ensuring compliance with all Performance Roof Systems and OSHA standards.
- Develop yearly operating and capital budgets and seek approvals.
- Ensure control of product and Plant overhead costs based upon approved operating budget.
- Maximize operating efficiencies through equipment, process, and raw material improvements.
- Manage raw material conversion efficiency to reduce waste and assist in lowering unit costs.
- Oversee scheduling and use of manpower in relationship to machine operations and maximize productivity to reduce overtime.
- Ensure shipping of finished product orders for customers are accurate, trucks are properly loaded and secured and shipped in a timely fashion.
- Support employee training and safety awareness programs on a regular basis.
- In conjunction with Legal & H&S ensure operations, documentation reporting, and permits conform to all pertinent Federal, State and Local regulations.
- Develop employee knowledge, professionalism and job ownership.
- Ensure physical inventory counts and assist with analyzing any variances.
- Organize scheduled departmental and peer evaluation reviews.
- Provide leadership to the specific Plant site by acting as Senor representative for all aspects of communications related to Manufacturing.
- Other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Manufacturing – Asphalt Roofing Plants.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited university or equivalent experience.
- A thorough understanding of production processes and manufacturing equipment.
- Ability to multi-task and coordinate work of several departments to optimize production activity.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and train employees in team philosophy and quality management in the manufacturing process.
- Ability to competently interact with all levels of the organization.
Working Conditions and/or Physical Demands:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds at times.
- In performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to dust, airborne particles, loud noises and vibration.
- Some parts of the Plants might not have climate controls. These areas can be hot or cold depending upon the season.
- While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk for extended periods of time during the production shift.
- Travel requirements up to 20%.
