In response to Sony Corporate’s commitment to accelerate scope 3 “net-zero” targets throughout the entire value chain from 2050 to 2040, Sony Pictures Responsible Sourcing Team has created this role to assist the effort. The hired candidate will collect actual and estimated emissions data within two categories of scope 3 (i.e., purchased goods and services, and corporate travel) to calculate and baseline current emissions, establish strategies to reduce emissions, and track progress to goal. This work dovetails into Sony Corporate’s broader efforts yet, this specific work is managed within Global Procurement.

The ideal candidate will have experience conducting life cycle assessments (LCAs), analyzing a combination of actual and estimated greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions data to determine supplier sustainability performance, developing reporting metrics for GHG emissions, and identifying opportunities for emissions reductions through sustainable sourcing alternatives. Candidate must have an agile mindset, demonstrate competency, and possess character that is fair, inclusive, consistent, transparent, and accountable. Core Responsibilities

  • Sustainability Proficiency: Possess demonstratable familiarity or subject matter expertise of scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions with the ability to explain them simply to assist department and stakeholder education and adoption as part of a comprehensive change management strategy.

  • Business Intelligence: Proactively understand the market to identify opportunities to reduce emissions through new product offerings, work with suppliers to adopt sustainable practices, suggest supplier incentives or other alternatives, and support cross-functional teams in performing competitive events (RFPs, auctions, etc.). Also, remain informed of regulatory changes to initiate revisions to procurement policies or processes.

  • Sustainability Analytics: Collect, analyze, and measure supplier emissions data to mitigate the environmental impacts associated with purchased goods and services, and corporate travel through appropriate baselining, development of reportable/trackable metrics for GHG emissions reductions.

  • Data Presentation Skills: Interpret supplier emissions data and use sound judgment to develop and present both high-level and comprehensive supplier sustainability performance data reports and presentation to both inform and cultivate a call to action.

  • Trusted Advisor: Manage relationships with internal SPE stakeholders, suppliers, external industry partnerships and corporate memberships to coordinate sustainability strategies, opportunities, and requirements. Proactively meet with internal stakeholders and develop trusted relationships.

  • Agile: Continuously look for ways to improve the sourcing process and leverage new ways to drive faster cycle-time, reduce touchpoints, and increase the speed at which SPE does business. Collaborate with business partners, suppliers, and stakeholders to drive an agile process.

  • Objective Focused: Able to conduct mutually beneficial knowledge and data exchanges to support cross-functional teams while remaining focused on the core objectives of the department and the responsibilities of this role.

Job Requirements

  • Candidate must have a minimum of 5+ years of experience developing metrics, performing materiality analysis or life cycle assessments, benchmarking, and tracking KPIs or metrics.

  • Candidate must have knowledge of sourcing processes and experience effectively advising on sourcing strategies and contributing to evolution of supply chain processes, and/or continuous process improvement.

  • Track record of delivering significant and measurable value in a large, complex, and fast-moving organization.

  • Knowledge of interactive data visualization software and reporting systems; Simfoni and SAP preferred.

  • Knowledge of carbon accounting methodologies or willingness to learn.

  • Candidate must demonstrate the ability to implement data driven strategies which advance program metrics or KPIs.

  • The candidate must be a self-starter who can work independently and proactively identify potential areas for improvement.

Education

  • Undergraduate Degree in Environmental Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, or equivalent certification with equivalent years of experience

  • Applicable certifications in sustainability (e.g., Certified Net-Zero Analyst, Certificate on Carbon Reduction and Net-Zero Strategies) is a plus.

  • Process improvement or Six Sigma methodology experience is a plus.

The anticipated base salary for this position is $118,600-$136,800. This role may also qualify for annual incentive and/or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
