Employment Information

Allied Electric is seeking a Service Electrician to install and repair electrical systems in both industrial and commercial settings. Allied Electric is a 40+ year electrical contractor servicing the Midwest Region in industrial, commercial, and institutional electrical and low voltage construction projects. Key responsibilities include:

  • Installing feeder and branch conduit and wiring such as: EMT, IMC, Rigid, PVC, PVC Coated Rigid – bend, cut and thread – all sizes, all types.
  • Troubleshooting electrical components, transformers, motors, panels, and circuits.
  • Installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems such as: switch gears, motor control centers, electrical panels, fire alarm, conveyor, lighting, and power systems.
  • Testing electrical systems or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using testing devices, such as ohmmeters or voltmeters, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
  • Blueprint reading including: MEP drawings and specs; architectural drawing and specs (including front ends); schematics, plan details, wiring diagrams and submittals.
  • Install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures.
  • Diagnosing malfunctioning systems, apparatus, or components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
  • Requisition material, equipment and supplies directly from purchasing for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of items required to complete necessary installation and/or repair.
  • Additional duties as assigned by management.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • State of Michigan Journeyman license with a minimum of 5 years of electrical experience.
  • OSHA 10 hour safety certification preferred.
  • Must have a strong mechanical/electrical aptitude and working knowledge of electrical control systems, machine components, electronic circuits and pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Experience with high voltage.
  • Must be able to analyze and troubleshoot electrical malfunctions in equipment and related components.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, technical repair manuals, prints, and specifications and use the information for the expedient repair of equipment.
  • Exceptional problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Self-motivated and highly productive.
  • Must have valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
