Compensation: $60,000 - $65,000


Under broad supervision, performs a variety of semiskilled and skilled building trades work in the repair, maintenance or construction of state buildings and related structures. Installs and maintains security, climate control and other facilities systems. Note: Position may require 24 on-call availability.


Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Will be responsible for ensuring the safe and reliable operation of electrical systems at GDOL facilities located throughout the state (25% travel).
  • Ensures, within all regulatory agency requirements, that electrical systems are maintained in a safe condition to provide an appropriate environment for the wellbeing of customers and staff.
  • Proactively supports efforts that ensure delivery of services and promote a safe environment at GDOL.
  • Installs, maintains, and repairs electrical systems and equipment in accordance with applicable codes and regulations.
  • Performs routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical systems.
  • Troubleshoots electrical issues and make necessary repairs to ensure uninterrupted power supply to critical equipment and facilities.
  • Installs and maintains lighting fixtures, emergency lighting systems, and other electrical components.
  • Collaborates with other staff, including maintenance technicians and contractors, to coordinate electrical projects and ensure compliance with safety guidelines.
  • Assists in the planning and execution of electrical system upgrades, renovations, and expansions at GDOL facilities.
  • Keeps accurate records of electrical maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment maintenance logs, and inventory management.
  • Adheres to established protocols and procedures, including infection control measures, when working at GDOL facilities.
  • Stays updated on the latest electrical codes, regulations, and industry best practices relevant to electrical systems.
  • Installs, services, and repairs all types of lighting fixtures, electrical panels, outlets, and wiring. Installs, repairs and services specialized electrical equipment and machinery.
  • Company cell phone and agency uniforms will be provided.
  • Reimbursement for yearly license renewal may be provided.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Thorough knowledge of electrical systems, circuits, and equipment commonly found in commercial facilities.
  • Familiarity with electrical codes and regulations governing commercial environments.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting electrical issues and using relevant tools and equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to following safety protocols.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Georgia Electrical Contractor’s License - Unrestricted

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including drills, ladders, hand trucks, circuit testers, hand tools and various other electrical and construction equipment.
  • Must be able to use body members to work, move or carry objects or materials, and have the ability to be at elevated levels and move safely in uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
  • Requires climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, working overhead, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motion.
  • Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and up to 20 pounds of force frequently.

High school diploma or GED AND Three years of experience in building repairs and maintenance or in the specific area of assignment OR Two years of experience at the lower level General Trades Tech 2 (FET031) or position equivalent. Note: Some positions may require area specific certifications/licenses.
