Education: Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Homeland Security, Security Studies, or related field. Master’s degree in relevant field preferred.
Required Experience
- 8 years of experience in homeland defense policy analysis or a related field.
- Understanding of policies for DoD support of civilian law enforcement agencies, including support of National Security Special Events.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to research, analyze data, and develop sound policy recommendations.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills to prepare clear and concise memoranda, reports, and briefings.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of homeland defense principles, DSCA, and interagency collaboration in domestic incident response.
- Experience working with US government regulations, DoD directives, and international agreements.
Preferred Experience
- 10 years of experience in fulfillment of the requirements above.
- Experience with CBRN incident response.
- Experience with emergency management.
- Proficiency in relevant software for data analysis and visualization.

Responsibilities:
SANCORP is seeking a Law Enforcement Analyst to support the office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Nuclear and Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction (DASD NCWMD). The mission of the Office of the DASD NCWMD is to develop policy guidance; provide astute policy advice; and oversee planning, capability development, and operational implementation to assure warfighting and national security advantages in the mission areas of nuclear weapons and countering weapons of mass destruction. The following are examples of responsibilities:
- Pro-actively manage issue areas being supported, prepare written products, and provide technical expertise in support of the offices of the ASD HDHA, DASD HDI & DSCA, DASD DC&MA, and DASD NCWMD in accomplishment of their missions.
- Provide on-site staff support in the development of homeland defense and defense support of civil authorities (DSCA) policies and strategies. Provide timely drafts of well-written, concise memoranda to DoD senior leaders on implications of policy and strategy decisions and proposed courses of action.
- Provide technically-based assessments of risk associated with DoD plans and force structure related to homeland defense missions and DSCA activities.
- Provide analysis to advance policy objectives for homeland defense and defense support of civil authorities through established DoD processes (e.g., capability assessments, plans, budgeting, and acquisition).
- Support DoD senior leaders in assessments of DoD’s roles and responsibilities to US Government strategies and policies for domestic incident management and response, homeland defense, and homeland security missions.
- Provide expert analyses on a wide range of homeland defense and domestic incident management and response issues, including analyses of legislative authorities and funding mechanisms, to support DoD leader senior engagements with US Government counterparts, State government and National Guard counterparts, international counterparts, and congressional members and staff.
- Provide subject matter expertise in the development of US Government regulations, DoD directives and instructions, Executive Branch departments and agencies’, and international agreements related to homeland defense and domestic response.
- Provide analysis to support policy development for prevention of and response to incidents, and the development and coordination of interagency solutions for preventing and responding to domestic incidents, including CBRN incidents, natural disasters, and incidents involving support to law enforcement.
- Prepare senior DoD officials to participate in national-level and DoD exercises related to domestic incident management and homeland defense.
- Support surge manning requirements during national responses to catastrophic events, to include liaison across the interagency and DoD Components.
