The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for complex projects and challenging engineering assignments. Collaborates with Engineering professionals and other cross-functional departments. This position is responsible for developing new products and delivering a regular cadence of product refreshments to each of the company’s product lines. Also develop a concept design and feasibility study for each product refresh (analyzing, understanding design requirements, designing components to meet requirements, and testing the system to validate the design). Leads system troubleshooting efforts, creates and evaluates technological developments, and investigates the feasibility of new engineering techniques, components, processes, and materials.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for creating concept design, 3D CAD modeling, converting into manufacturing prints, preparing bills of materials, and releasing them through engineering change release process.
- Provides work leadership and training to lower level professional and technical staff or works in a highly technical development role designing significantly complex devices and systems.
- Performs highly complex activities relating to the design, testing, and evaluation of mechanical and electro-mechanical devices or systems.
- Leads projects such as developing a new product line.
- Partners with manufacturing, vendors, and suppliers to develop components for prototype devices or systems, meeting cost targets for the project.
- Provides existing product line support in design activities and/or modification of hardware studies, specifications, and cost estimates to ensure highest quality and value.
- Provides work leadership and training to lower level professional and technical staff or works in a highly technical development role designing significantly complex devices and systems.
- Coordinate with cross function team in implementing new designs and improvements.
- Work with suppliers to improve quality and resolve product issues. Provide direct technical support to the production team as required to meet the goals.
- Drive continuous improvement projects related to the product design and quality of products.
- Performs the design, testing, operation and/or evaluation of mechanical and electro-mechanical devices or systems.
- Conducts engineering studies through data acquisition and analyzes results.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in commercial refrigeration required
- An understanding of thermodynamic and refrigeration fundamentals required
- Good knowledge of sheet metal design required
- Proof of capacity to manage small to middle-size projects using the appropriate tool required
- Working knowledge of computer applications, including Word and Excel required
- Strong knowledge of SolidWorks including GD&T, and familiarity with FEA and CFD analysis preferred
- Preliminary knowledge of NSF, UL safety standards, and local codes preferred
- Knowledge of DOE or Taguchi method preferred
- Expertise related to Excel Macros preferred
- Understanding how to create a database and analysis preferred
- Good knowledge of Python software is highly preferred
Education and Work Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering required, mechanical engineering preferred
- Master's degree in mechanical engineering and design manufacturing a plus
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in commercial refrigeration required
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Perform activities including bending, stooping, standing, walking
- Stand and walk from two (2) to four (4) hours per day
- Climb up and down stairs two (2) to four (4) times per day
- Operate common office equipment, i.e. PC, phone, copier, printer, fax
- Use various measuring instruments
- Work in climate-controlled environment
- Travel infrequently by various means of transportation, including car, train, bus, plane

Pay: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
