SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
The HR Generalist assists with the day-to-day human resources and administrative duties associated with the Chesterfield office and any Work from Home Employee. Additionally, the HR Generalist supports HR Systems including Workday, Litmos LMS, and UKG. The HR Generalist creates, updates, and ensures compliance with corporate HR policies, procedures, and programs. Communicates HR practices and objectives that will provide an employee-oriented, high-performance culture in the Chesterfield office, and among the companies’ Commercial Sales team. Ensures HR systems are maintained and optimized for the department.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
HRIS/Workday Support:
· Support administration for all HRIS systems, including Workday, Dupont LMS, Kronos, Oracle, and Alert Media
· Ensures data integrity in all HR systems which includes data maintenance in Workday and Oracle
· Functions as HRIS system Helpdesk Support for the local HR representatives and all Silgan Self-service users including access issues, data maintenance assistance, reporting assistance, and troubleshooting.
· Able to support the HR Systems Manager in researching and resolving moderately complex problems, unexpected results, or process flaws; performing scheduled activities; and recommending solutions or alternate methods to meet requirements.
· Completes the monthly headcount report that is shared with the company.
· Escalates issues to HR Systems Manager as needed.
Employee Relations:
· Functions as the HR contact for the Chesterfield office and Work from Home employees
· Assists with creating an employee-friendly environment through frequent interaction with our Chesterfield team. Coordinates quarterly Town Hall Lunches, Holiday Parties and other office Celebrations that foster positive employee relationships.
· Administers Corporate Relocation and Tuition Reimbursement programs when needed.
· Administers the Health Club Reimbursement program on a quarterly basis.
· Assists the HR Director in administration of bi-annual review and distribution of Employee Handbooks for all facilities (US and Canada).
· Partners with management to communicate Human Resources policies, procedures, programs, and legal requirements company wide.
· Recommends employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship.
· Participates in and conducts investigations when employee complaints or concerns are brought forth.
· Assists managers with performance management, including Performance Improvement Plans
· Assists with employee communications and feedback.
· Assists Corporate HR management, Sr. HR Business Partners, HR Business Partners and HR Coordinators with HR-related projects, activities, and issues.
· Oversees the following HR programs: E-Verify and Unemployment (for Chesterfield and WFH employees).
· Completes onboarding tasks for new hires in Chesterfield and in WFH locations.
· Completes offboarding tasks including Termination Checklist for all departing employees.
· Provides department reporting on the WOTC tax credit program.
Safety:
· Maintains safety policies for the Chesterfield office. Ensures that site specific programs are written and maintained.
· Ensures all quarterly safety training is completed and documented for all members of the staff.
· Maintains and completes all monthly safety statistics for the facility.
· Participates in the Chesterfield Safety Committee and actively promotes and engages a culture of safety.
Compliance Management:
· Ensures compliance with governmental reporting requirements including Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) and the Department of Labor
· Protects the interests of employees and the company in accordance with company Human Resources policies and governmental laws and regulations.
· Administers FMLA and LOA plans for Chesterfield and Work from Home employees with support of the Corporate Benefits
· Manages the Labor Law Poster Program
Administrative Support:
· Plans and Coordinates Quarterly Chesterfield Town Halls (January, April, July, November- Budget Planning)
· Plans and Coordinates other Chesterfield Office Gatherings
o Thanksgiving Celebration
o December Holiday Gathering
o Any Retirement Lunches
· Coordinates Flower Delivery on behalf of the Company (new children/funerals typically for Silgan Leadership including Plant Managers, Directors, Regional Controllers)
· Distributes all approved Organizational Announcements to the appropriate distribution lists in the appropriate format.
· Assists with HR Department communications and distribution.
· Assists IT with consolidating and revamping all corporate distribution lists.
· Assists Marketing with the Bi-Annual Newsletter (Contribute to the marketing publication by Vickie Marshall)
Other Projects:
· Corporate Compliance Program - Collect and format various policies.
· Corporate Postings - Work with the Executive Team and HR to review and update all postings at the plants.
· Coordinates Chesterfield Charitable Giving Initiatives twice a year.

EDUCATION:
Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management, Human Resources Development or Business Administration
Preferred: PHR or SPHR Certification
EXPERIENCE:
Required: 3 - 5 years of general HR experience
Preferred: 5 – 7 years of general HR experience; Exposure to an HRIS system
SKILLS:

· Experience in the administration of Human Resources programs
· Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment. Must include Excel and Word.
