Human Resources Generalist
Reports to: Human Resources Director

Summary/Objective

The HR Generalist is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the Human Resources area. This role performs a diverse and wide range of HR functions such as: maintaining highly sensitive documents, managing the talent acquisition process, grouping and presenting actionable data and administering benefits, among others. The HR Generalist serves as a key point of contact for HR-related topics and provides necessary assistance in line with pertinent regulations.
Essential Functions
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Manages all administrative tasks for onboarding, new hire orientation, and exit interviews, including entering data into HR information systems and auditing for accuracy and compliance.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and occupational health/safety.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Assist in the communication, interpretation, and upkeep of employee handbook, employee directory, and organizational chart, and contributes to the development of policies.
  • Suggest new procedures and policies to continually improve efficiency of the HR area and organization as a whole, to improve employee experience.
  • Gathers analyses, and presents data with useful HR metrics.
  • Maintain employee files and records in electronic and paper form.
  • Proactively researches and identifies initiatives that can benefit the organization.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position doesn’t have supervision responsibilities.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or related field
  • Three or more years of experience working in the human resources field
  • Fully bilingual (English & Spanish)
  • Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, ethics, and cultural awareness
  • Resourceful, problem-solving aptitude and thorough knowledge of HR procedures and policies
  • Capacity to apply discretion and maintain a high level of confidentiality when handling sensitive information
  • Ability to develop and manage interpersonal relationships throughout the organization
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems
