Title: Human Development Generalist
Qualifications:
1. Associate's degree in Human Resources or related field
2. Proven experience as an HD Generalist or similar role, preferably in schools
3. Strong knowledge of HR laws, regulations, and best practices
4. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
5. Proficient in HR software systems for managing employee data
6. Experience with planning and organizing events
7. Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism
Reports To: Executive Director/Director of Fiscal Services/SPED Director
Job Summary:
Provides and/or creates human resources work products, guidance, and any necessary training in areas such as employment and dismissal, compensation, workman’s compensation claims, labor relations, benefits, and professional development. Provides assistance and follow-up to employees throughout the application process in the areas of policies, procedures, and documentation. Reviews candidates, Coordinates the resolution and/or referral of specific policy-related and procedural problems and inquiries.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Customer Service: Answer phone calls and email regarding HR/Employees Benefits questions: insurance plans, premiums, 125 files plan, FMLA, retirement, qualifying events and wellness program. Maintains communication with current employees regarding any changes in personnel or benefits through website and newsletters.
2. Prepares files for newly hired employees, ensures that they are complete, accurate, and in proper order prior to giving to payroll and before filing.
3. Monitor & process background checks, fingerprinting and follow up as needed. Issue and maintain company badges.
4. Prepares all job postings, vacancies, screening applicants, schedule interviews, reference checks, facilitate orientations and assists with the hiring process. Draft Offer letters of employment and/or letters of rejection.
5. Prepares/Reports all workmen’s comp injuries to Pinnacle. Prepares all work comp files and correspondence.
6. Counsels employees and supervisors regarding staff conflict, employee grievances and complaints, and related issues. Draft or assist with letters of corrective action.
7. Prepare letters of termination and off boarding and arrange for company items to be returned.
8. Provides assistance and coordination in the development and maintenance of specialized human resources data bases, computer software systems, and manual filing systems.
9. Prepares employee contracts per final board budget resolution.
10. Responsible for the completeness and maintenance of all personnel files.
11. Assists with workers’ compensation, liability, property, auto, health, dental, and disability insurance claims.
12. Manage and maintain HR and PD pages on Boces website.
13. Manage and organize SAC/Board/NEED Foundation materials for regular and special meetings. Notifies each SAC/Board/NEED Foundation members of scheduled meetings. Assist with development of yearly scheduled meetings. Performs duties required as recording Board Secretary for SAC/Board/NEED Foundation, including arrangements for logistics and refreshments.
14. LAM-CDE Access for reporting.
15. Assist with the Professional Development HB1345 Grant – Take direction from the SPED Director. Assist with conference room scheduling, order food, make packets, sign in sheets, print certificates, manage registrations, manage PD page on website and send out training schedules.
16. Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the Execute Director, & Director of Fiscal Services.
Evaluation:
This position shall be evaluated in accordance with board policy on personnel evaluations.
Salary, Working Time, Vacation, Etc.:
This is a 12-month position with earned vacation, holidays and leave determined by board policy. The working day shall be eight hours exclusive of a 30-minute released time lunch break. The salary shall be listed under Level 3 on the Alternate Certified/Non-Certified Salary Schedule.
Working Conditions:
- Talking and hearing, walking, standing or bending is frequently required
- Reaching with hands and arms, climbing or balancing, stooping or kneeling is also required
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds
- Travel to assigned job site(s) requires driving. Employee may be asked to drive to any member district at any time using personal or BOCES vehicle Mileage reimbursement for use of a personal vehicle shall be in accordance with Board policy
- All required license(s), including driver’s license, must be maintained in an active status without suspension or revocation throughout employment. Any employee may be required to stay at or return to work during meetings and/or emergencies to perform duties specific to this classification or to perform other duties as requested in an assigned position. This may require working a non-traditional work schedule or working outside normal assigned duties during the meeting and/or emergency
