WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
The American Red Cross is seeking an Administrative Assistant to support the HR Shared Services team in Charlotte. This position will be working in our Charlotte, NC office on a daily basis.
WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE GOOD:
  • Perform administrative duties such as photocopying documents, operating office equipment, opening and routing mail, preparing outgoing mail, and screens incoming phone calls. Answer routine questions and forward inquiries to appropriate department or business unit. Appropriate administrative logs for faxes, deliveries, shipments, etc.
  • Assist in the preparation of correspondence. May tabulate and post data in record book or spreadsheet. File and maintain reports and correspondence.
  • Utilize the case management system, HR Now, and HRIS employee system of record, Workday, to complete administrative duties.
  • Receive and greet visitors. Direct them to the appropriate place or staff member. May issue control badges as required and record visitor’s arrival and departure.
  • May maintain inventory and coordinate the ordering of all commonly used office supplies.
  • May relieve other administrative staff in the unit during temporary absence.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:
Education: High School or equivalent required.
Experience: Minimum 3 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
Skills & Abilities: Good verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of personal computer use, Microsoft Office Suite, and use of basic office equipment. Standard typing skills required. Ability to work on a team.

  • Combination of candidate’s education and general experience satisfies requirements so long as the total years equate to description’s minimum education and general experience years combined (Management experience cannot be substituted).
Pay information: The hourly pay rate for this position is $19.00-22.00. This is a full time position with benefits.
This job will be posted for a minimum of five business days and extended if the applicant pool needs to be expanded.

Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The work environment will consist of moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phones and printers, light traffic). The employee must have the ability to work in a small cubicle and have the ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time.
