Purpose

Responsible for developing, maintaining, and updating employee benefits records; answer employee inquiries through email and phone calls; and/or reconciling billing.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist with preparing and running benefit eligibility reports for reconciliation in billing and/or new hire enrollments
  • Answer benefits emails and benefits hotline on daily basis to resolve employee inquires and/or issues
  • Process qualifying life events and dependent verifications
  • Complete semi-monthly payroll file review and pre-check
  • Submit HSA funding & commuter reports
  • Serve as Benefits backup for: arrears, billing, STD/LTD & Life claims, etc.
  • Assist with child support orders and system updates for COBRA
  • Process monthly gym membership reimbursements
  • Complete monthly service award reporting
  • Monitor employee HIPAA training completion and send Medicare eligibility reports monthly
  • Audits employee time punches on a weekly basis and works with managers, employees and payroll to ensure all time punches are captured
  • Audits employee timecards for any negative PTO and works with managers, employees and payroll to ensure any negative PTO has been approved
  • Prepares monthly organizational charts and monthly District updates
  • Payroll garnishment entries as received
  • Prepares, reviews and distributes various HR audit reports such as unauthorized records (payroll), weekly employee referral reports, weekly HR new hire audit reports, PTO accrual audits, HR error report audits, UPN audits and updates
  • Performance Management reporting and participant tracking
  • Weekly I9 compliance audits by reviewing weekly new hires and terminations and ensuring I9 compliance
  • Stays current on changing Federal and State regulations as it pertains to benefits

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • High school and/or Associates degree is preferred; Bachelor’s degree is a plus
  • One to three years of benefits related experience
  • Good numerical analysis skills
  • Possess the trait of being organized and following a systematic method of performing a task
  • Ability to work under pressure and to prioritize tasks and projects

Preferred Skills

  • Computer skills: Excel (pivot tables/V Lookup), Word, PowerPoint
  • Familiar in working with HR/Benefits systems for data entry, inquires, and running reports
  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly
  • Ability to communicate in writing clearly and concisely
  • Provide customer service in a prompt, courteous and efficient manner; use empathetic listening skills
