Description:
Oregon Corrections Enterprises (OCE) is seeking a full-time HR and Payroll Generalist located at our Administration Office in Salem, Oregon. The role consists of processing monthly payroll, coordinating benefits, and providing general HR support. The successful candidate will possess critical attention to detail, maintain a high standard of confidential and professional conduct, ability to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal direction, and with demonstrated initiative and problem solving skills.

Desired Knowledge and Skills:

  • Detail oriented, an organizer and planner who thrives on details and is uncompromising in consistency and accuracy.
  • Processing payroll correctly and timely by researching, interpreting, and applying established rules, policies, procedures, state and federal laws, and union contracts.
  • Provide benefit support including sending enrollment and change forms, reporting, and processing payments.
  • HRIS systems experience (Paycom) to include technical support, troubleshooting, customer service to employees and AICs.
  • Understands that our people are our most important resource.
  • Ability to learn and apply DOC and OCE rules, policies, and procedures including human resources policies and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Ability to collaborate in a team environment to facilitate complex projects and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Ability to communicate and interact with internal and external customers in a professional and courteous manner, both verbally and in writing.

Working Conditions:

  • May be required to work some late and unusual hours, including some weekends
  • Requires willingness to travel in or out of state, including some overnight trips
  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods of time
  • Ability to climb stairs without assistive aids
  • Travel throughout the institution(s) will be required on a regular basis.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Three (3) years of Human Resources or Payroll paraprofessional or technical-level experience
    OR
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Organizational Behavior or Development, Business or Public Administration, or a job-related course of study
  • Pass an initial and annual Law Enforcement Data System (LEDS) criminal background check screening
  • Pass pre-employment drug screening as a condition of employment
