Role Description:

The Commodity Manager is responsible for the sourcing and materials management of all direct and indirect materials as assigned, as well as for the ongoing management of the Supply Chain, ensuring performance to product quality, delivery, and Total Cost of Ownership within business requirements. This leadership position will also give day to day guidance to Buyers and other Supply Chain personnel within the organization, sometimes in a direct reporting relationship. Material management for this role will focus on veneer, glass, fiberglass, and solid surfaceand supply chain management.

Requirements:

Responsibilities:

  • Direct the development of strategies and Sourcing/Supply Chain solutions that are aligned with Kimball International strategies and organizational objectives, including cost savings and overall Supply Chain performance.
  • Identify and qualify fully capable and forward thinking suppliers to meet needs in product development, production, delivery support, and financial performance.
  • Manage supply agreements and Kimball International supplier commercial relationships. Lead negotiator on assigned commodities.
  • Develop financial reports for commodity areas assigned.
  • Manage inventory levels and E&O, assigning metrics and measures for assigned commodities.
  • Manage the development of Suppliers and Supply Chain processes.
  • Travel to supplier locations to assess capabilities, support cost reduction activities, or mitigate performance risks or issues.
  • Work with Quality to define expectations and manage quality performance of suppliers.
  • Drive supplier reliability performance and improvements in terms of on time shipments, in conjunction with Operational Procurement teams.
  • Identify alternative sources of supply or new and unique Sourcing and Supply Chain strategies in support of the business to ensure Kimball International maintains a competitive position in the market.
  • Develop costs savings programs and strategies and implement to meet cost reduction goals.
  • Manage supply chain Total Cost of Ownership factors and impacts.
  • Lead Competitive Bid and Negotiation efforts with suppliers.

Qualifications:

Educational

  • 4 year business degree / MBA preferred OR 8-10 years of demonstrated experience in Supply Chain Management functions.
