DSFederal is seeking an experienced Functional Tester with 508 compliance experience to support an agency health care program. As a member of the team, you'll be testing the functionality, usability, and overall quality of a variety of software applications and ensure 508 compliance. This is a contingent job opportunity
Testing
- Collaborate with the development team to understand project requirements and create comprehensive test plans.
- Create test cases and test scripts based on the requirements traceability matrix and requirements

- Conduct functional testing to validate software functionality and ensure it aligns with user requirements.
- Develop and integrate automated testing processes
- Identify, document, and track bugs and issues, providing detailed reports to the development team. Perform regression testing to ensure that new developments haven't adversely affected existing features.
- Evaluate software usability and user interfaces, providing feedback for improvement.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure a smooth integration of testing into the software development life cycle in an Agile environment.
- Conduct accessibility audits and assessments to evaluate digital content for compliance with Section 508 standards.
- Review and remediate PDF documents, Word documents, web pages, and other digital assets for accessibility compliance.
- Utilize accessibility testing tools such as JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, and WAVE to assess web pages and documents.
- Stay updated on relevant accessibility guidelines, standards, and legal requirements.
Requirements:
- Minimum of five years of hands-on experience in software functional testing and 508 compliance
- Proven track record of contributing to successful software releases through comprehensive testing.
- Application Life-cycle Management tools such as JIRA
- Proficient in using various testing techniques, including manual testing and possibly automated
- testing tools such as Selenium
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify, troubleshoot, and document issues
- effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for clear bug reporting and collaboration with
- development teams.
- Meticulous in ensuring that all aspects of software functionality are thoroughly tested.
- Strong understanding of accessibility principles and guidelines, including WCAG and Section 508
- standards.
- Proficiency in using accessibility testing tools such as JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, WAVE, and AXE.
Education
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred
- Additional certifications in accessibility or Section 508 compliance are a plus.
