Position Overview
The Senior Manager, Inventory Control is responsible for supporting the DC operations team with all inventory related transactions to ensure Legendary Service to our customers. This person is responsible for developing the culture, processes, and procedures that appropriately support our company’s business goals while maintaining and upholding our Brand’s legacy. This individual must be self-motivated to ensure inventory accuracy, think strategically while quickly identifying and solving process issues, be action oriented and hold a high level of accountability and responsibility for their team and self. This leader must have experience at developing plans for accomplishing departmental / facility goals and process efficiency. A key responsibility for this role is communicating over a multichannel organization to consistently achieve the current “Best in Class” standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
As a Manager, Inventory Control responsibilities and typical activities will include, but are not limited to the following:
Reporting and trending divisional performance measurements
Inventory integrity initiatives
Enhancements of policies, procedures, and process flows
Support and ensure compliance of standard operating procedures
Technology and process improvements
Monitor and validate cycle count process and results
Coordinate and review product destruction
Support inventory balancing (Host vs. WM)
Research inventory availability reporting
Report and analyze shrink
Coordinate annual inventory cut-off reconciliation
Review and report financial differences from re-class process
Investigate and validate aging cartons and claims
Lead, coach and develop members of the Inventory Control team.
Monitor Inventory Control KPI in relationship to performance. Maintains a continuous learning environment for productivity performance and quality programs.
Provide strategic analysis & direction to achieve outstanding service to internal and external customers. Facilitate and support change while meeting and exceeding performance goals. Create an open environment that correctly reflects the company Brand and Image and can create / maintain a successful organizational structure within that environment. Use a hands-on, walk-the floor approach to management soliciting ideas from all employees as well as analyzing the numbers.
Responsible for managing Inventory Control team that conducts inventory and audit activities such as Cycle counting and variance resolution
Support shortage resolution
Identifying and resolving process / team / individual accuracy issues
Interface with other Sr. Manager, Managers, leaders, and departments to address company needs and perpetuate desired branded experience; coordinate with various groups to maintain high levels of communication and operational coordination.
Communicate regularly through meetings, feedback sessions, and written communications to ensure two-way flow of information regarding company and departmental news, policies and procedures, employee feedback, and ideas / recommendations.
Perpetuate an energy-packed work environment that fosters teamwork and professionalism, recognize excellence and high performance, drive idea generation, and promote company values.
Lead special projects as requested by Global Inventory Control and FTZ leader.
Support FTZ Manager, FTZ analyst team, and operations ensuring FTZ compliance. Maintain relationships and attend meetings with outside consultation partners, Customs Border Patrol, and FTZ software vendors.
Responsible for ensuring all audit requests from RL Internal Audit and Inventory Finance, as well as E&Y requests are delivered accurately and timely.
Accountable for managing the HPD Business Support team, monitoring TOS orders, customer special requests, bin checks, etc. Leading BS team to ensure project requests are delivered – external and internal customer expectations are met.
Experience, Skills & Knowledge
Education and experience needed:
Some college or applicable IC experience. In lieu of education, 3+ years’ experience in warehouse Inventory Control Management; experience in RFID or FTZ is a plus.
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, with attention to detail.
Proven success in staff and program management within a changing environment.
Superior-level written and verbal communication skills; must be able to write and deliver compelling presentations to the leadership team. Proven ability to communicate effectively, (written and verbally) with peers and all levels of management.
Requires detailed understanding of Inventory Control, management skills, business practices and a judgment in applying policies and adapting standard methods to accomplish goals.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint), and MS Project
Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize many different projects and workload. Ability to work well under pressure.
