Job Title: FINANCIAL ANALYST (New Mexico residents only)

Reports to: Accounting Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

SUMMARY

The purpose of this position is to identify opportunities for margin improvement. Success in this position is measured by actual, achieved real-dollar improvements to the company’s profitability. This position performs analytical activities such as data mining, the design and implementation of multi-purpose financial analyses, matching costs to revenues, financial modeling, and recommending specific internal control procedures to management. Has knowledge of generally accepted concepts, practices, and procedures in the accounting field. Relies on a combination of education and professional experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals to perform a variety of tasks. Works under minimal supervision and without the assistance of any subordinates. Creative analytical and problem-solving skills and excellent professional judgment and discretion are required. Cooperates and communicates effectively with individuals throughout the company, at both management and non-management levels.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Discovers, plans, and executes efficient means for acquiring data needed to facilitate analyses (data mining)
  • Designs and implements multi-purpose financial analyses
  • Ties-out all manner of costs to their relevant revenues
  • Reports actionable financial information to management and recommends opportunities for margin improvement
  • Follows-up on margin improvement initiatives, measures and reports actual real-dollar improvements to the company’s profitability
  • Documents and analyses financial controls and procedures in their current forms and in their recommended improved forms
  • Designs and recommends to controls and procedures to ensure changes in revenues tie to changes in costs

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

A bachelors degree in accounting, finance, or business with a minimum of 12 semester hours of accounting coursework is required. Must have a high level of proficiency in using Microsoft Excel software.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must have the ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence, and memos. Must have the ability to write effective, professional, and comprehensive documentation. Must have the ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Must have mathematical skills and knowledge congruous with the task of maintaining and analyzing multiple accounting systems.

REASONING ABILITY

This position requires exceptional judgment in matters of finance, accounting, and business practice. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form is required. Ability to resolve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations is required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
