Position Overview
Efficient operations is essential in the ability of Davey Resource Group, Inc. (DRG) to perform work for our clients in the communication and utility industries. It is critical that operations managers can see and analyze financial information to help them make better business decisions. The Junior Financial Analyst will be integral to tracking key metrics, reporting on those metrics, and working closely with operations teams to perform root cause analysis on issues that arise. A strong working relationship with a high level of trust across the organization will be critical to success in this role. This role is highly interactive in a team environment and a high level of energy and positive attitude will be important to the position.
Job Duties
● Manage and build on our current cost tracking to provide better clarity and transparency
to revenue and cost forecasting.
● Compare budget vs. actual financials and be able to dissect variances.
● Month-end invoicing and WIP reconciliation
● Understanding, and improving where necessary, our current financial tools
(Spreadsheets and associated tools)
● Drive annual financial planning process for all operations teams
● Gain a strong understanding of SAP reporting.
● Identify areas of inconsistent processes and improve on those areas
● Metrics tracking and reporting
● Demonstrate an eagerness to learn and develop additional skills.
● Willing and eager to complete special projects and roles as identified.
Qualifications
● Bachelor’s preferred, but relevant experience considered
● Background in accounting, bookkeeping, or financial analysis
● Advanced knowledge of Excel formulas and spreadsheets required
● Strong analytical skills
● Strong interpersonal skills
● Basic understanding of operations and cost drivers
● Problem solving skills to develop solutions
● SAP experience preferred (not mandatory)
● Project Management software experience preferred (not mandatory)
● Attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priority
items and track extensive detail.
● Ability to work in a fast-paced working environment
● Proactive and confident to work independently, while maintaining strong teamwork skills.
● Ability to recognize and react appropriately to high impact situations.
● Demonstrated high level of professionalism, including ability to be flexible with others, display tact, diplomacy, and discretion, and maintain integrity of confidential and sensitive information.
● Ability to be physically onsite in Richfield office
● Minimal travel 10-20% may be required
