JOB
The Board of Pol\ce Commissioners (BOPC) Is the Charter mandated oversight agency of theDetroit Police Department. Under general direction, this position will assist the BOPC inworking with the Department, Executive Leadership and Commission to review,establish, and monitor policy within the Department. The position will direct, manage, andsupervise the policy development to secure Information and data related to "best practices" ingovernment and law enforcement, provide policy oversight, and have the ability to generatereports advising the Commission In pollcy directed areas.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
- Participates In establishing operational plans and Initiative to meet the goals andobjectives of the unit.• Provides project management support• Implements and directs departmental plans, work programs, processes, procedures, andpolicies.• Develop policies and procedures.• Acts as a liaison between the Department, BOPC, and the Media.• Ensures appropriate branding of the BOPC.• Provides leadership and works with staff to develop and maintain a high performance,customer service-oriented work environment that support the City's and Board's mission,strategic goals and core values.• Maintains a working knowledge of all city and departmental policies, procedures, rules,regulations, codes, guidelines, and memorandums; ensures compllance and Initiates anyaction necessary to correct deviations.• Establishes and maintains Internal planning controls.• Maintains confidentiality of departmental documentation and Information.• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
