POSITION SUMMARY

SSRC is looking for a Director of Procurement. To succeed in this position, you will need demonstrate an aptitude for efficiency, problem-solving, change management, and resourcefulness, with a deep commitment to the return on investment without compromising quality. This position, as an upper management role, is expected to help build and drive positive culture for the entire Finance Division.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

General Responsibilities
  • Implement effective sourcing strategies and cultivate strong supplier relationships
  • Anticipate unfavorable events through analysis of data and prepare control strategies to mitigate impacts.
  • Work closely with Upper Management peers to ensure products are of the highest quality specification at the lowest price available.
  • Research new products and vendors
  • Maintain knowledge of the market, in addition to current prices and fair rates for goods
  • Develop a centralized procurement program that adds value and efficiency to the organization.
  • Actively collaborate with Director of Sustainability to identify and implement green initiative programs.
  • Partner closely with Alterra Director of Procurement to identify and implement companywide negotiated contract initiatives.
  • Serve as the primary contact for procurement related questions, training, policies & procedure interpretation and provide alignment by all departments across the Resort.
  • Serve as a role model for team members by demonstrating positive attitude, action, behavior, attendance, work ethic and guest service.
  • Enforce ethical practices in all dealing with vendors; monitor subordinates and company personnel that pursue improper practices.
  • Supervise and coach department team members through training, feedback, and development plans to ensure quality contribution.
  • Leverage strong functional leadership and communication skills to influence the Upper Management Team on the property's strategies.
  • Control spend and build a culture of long-term savings on procurement costs.
  • Facilitate critique meetings to review opportunities with management team.
  • Examine, test, and perform risk management for supply contracts and agreements.
  • Oversee contract development, negotiation & administration.
  • Coordinate purchases related to capital projects with the Planning and Development team, as well as outside contractors.
  • Plan policies and procedures for efficiently, honestly, economically, and productively purchasing goods for supply change production and operation.
  • Oversee the processing of purchase orders, bids & proposals, and reconciliation of any invoice discrepancies.
  • Implement program for budget management throughout the fiscal year
  • Ensure that all storage areas are secure, clean, and properly organized.
  • Establish par stocks on all inventoried items, keeping in mind that levels must be kept as low as possible without compromising the operation of the Resort.
  • Conduct frequent quality control audits to ensure team members are properly trained and following established procedures.
  • Coordinate all periodic inventories
  • Responsible for the administration of Purchasing, Warehouse, and Shipping & Receiving operations.
  • Protect confidentiality of business information
  • Understand and meet the needs of key stakeholders (Senior Leadership Team, Alterra Mountain Company, Employees, & Guests).
  • Understand the Company perspective and ROI expectations.
  • Anticipate and address corporate needs and involve Senior Leadership Team in key decisions.
  • Advise the Upper Management on existing and evolving procurement issues.
  • Attend monthly financial review meetings to provide context and explanation for financial results.
  • Communicate procurement concepts in a clear and persuasive manner that is easy to understand and drives desired behaviors.
  • Ensure there is adequate cross training to support successful daily procurement operation during periods of position vacancy.
  • Ensure Resort policies are administered fairly and consistently.
  • Ensure management new hires participate in the procurement orientation program.
  • Create appropriate procurement development plans leveraging Resort strengths to address development needs and create career aspirations amongst the procurement team.
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Proficiency in Excel and related business tools, including but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite, Dynamics 365 & Inventory Management Software, required.
  • Experience with evaluating business processes, providing recommendations, and advocating for the change management process for long lasting process improvements, required.
  • Previous progressive operational experience desired.
  • Ability and dedication to adapt to the seasonal business needs of the Resort is crucial.
  • Collaboration and partnership with team members and colleagues will be required for successful change management, which is critical for success.
  • Must have a high degree of professional integrity, and be able to work in a safe, prudent manner, with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent and tailored communications skills for a widely varying group of constituents
  • Interact and maintain positive relationships with guests, co-workers and management consistent with Steamboat Ski and Resort Company's Service Excellence standards
  • Must meet Steamboat Resort minimum driving standards and have current driver's license; a successful motor vehicle record background check is required

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree or relevant experience is required.

The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the Steamboat Ski and Resort Corporation salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on a range of factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Steamboat Ski and Resort Corporation total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term and long-term incentives.

Steamboat area base salary range: $90,000 - $115,000 per year

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Largely sedentary position with office based out of the SSRC Administration Building.
  • Ability to lift to 30 lbs. is expected.
  • Must be willing to work flexible schedule to accomplish all requirements and tasks.
