Director of Maintenance

Function: Actively lead, motivate, & supervise maintenance employees, and ensure maintenance shop is run properly, profitably, and in accordance with HOVA Flight Services and FAA regulations/procedures

Required Certification: FAA certified Airframe & Powerplant licensed mechanic with IA rating.

Required Experience: Must have a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in general aviation maintenance (single-engine and multi-engine general aviation aircraft); Must be experienced in managing employees

Reports to: President

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for management of maintenance operations to ensure maintenance department operates as a profit center
  • Ensure maintenance shop maintains compliance with HOVA Flight Services procedures, FAA regulatory requirements, and other governmental-required regulations
  • Forecast and plan for upcoming flight school aircraft inspections & coordinate these inspections into the maintenance schedule.
  • Coordinate with the Flight School Coordinator to determine the maintenance priority level of individual flight school aircraft dependent upon the needs of the flight school
  • Maintain schedule of all aircraft repair & maintenance for both based-customers, non-based customers & flight school aircraft & advise customers of any deviations from schedule
  • Assign tasks to be completed by A&P mechanics, apprentices & shop helpers; supervise maintenance employees to ensure they stay on task and on target for timely completion
  • Supervise Parts Manager & Maintenance Parts Department, including supervising the shipping/receiving & inventory management processes
  • Prepare for and lead employee performance reviews of the maintenance department employees
  • Ensure work orders are completed in a timely process while maintaining quality and safety
  • Support flight school (Part 61 and 141) and charter operations (Part 135)
  • Communicate with customers (quotes, scheduling, work-in-progress updates, etc.)
  • Manage maintenance customer accounts
  • Oversee and manage shop billing and ensure timely closure of work orders
  • Follow up with customers after delivery to ensure satisfaction
  • Work with other department heads to coordinate operations and establish business priorities

Occasional overtime and weekend shifts are required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $75,000.00 per year
