The Director of Human Resources will be reporting to the hotel General Manager and will have some reporting to the Vice President, Labor Relations NYC for MCR. We’re looking for an experienced Human Resource Generalist with a background in the New York City Hotel Labor Environment. The successful candidate will oversee the day to day running of the Human Resources function. And will oversee and be responsible for the hotel’s labor relations, recruitment and retention, employee communications, recognition and relations, career development, wage & hour compliance, learning and development, workers’ compensation and legal matters related to hotel employees. Principal Responsibilities include:
  • Provide support, direction and counseling to the hotel’s leadership team Managing, management staff and team members to ensure each are striving to exceed guest expectations and fulfill our vision to be the premier manager of quality lodging properties as recognized by our team members, guests and owners.
  • Ensure our team members live the company values that include Integrity, Communication, Respect, Teamwork, Service, Innovation, Professional Growth, Profitability and a Can-Do Attitude.
  • Manage all team member and labor relations, including negotiating contracts and settlements, handling grievances, mediations and arbitrations.
  • Develop, implement and administer policies and programs related to the management of all hotel personnel to ensure the maintenance of a positive, productive, fair and consistent employment environment.
  • Ensure each team member has the necessary tools and resources to fulfill our vision for our guests
  • Review daily and weekly payroll.
  • Review monthly union reports and submit for payment.
  • Review all entitlement reports and ensure that these are true up for accuracy.
  • Walk the hotel and engage with the team.
  • Direct and control associate relations programs and activities such as recognition, social and general hotel meetings to maintain a positive associate relations climate.
  • Manage an effective strategy that encourages our team members to perform at their best.
  • Put a plan of special events together to support team camaraderie and recognition for the years.
  • Be innovative.
  • Attend any training modules or sessions as needed.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field is required
  • 5+ years’ experience in a HR Leadership Position
  • 10+ years’ experience in the NYC Hotel Labor Environment.
  • Must have luxury hotel experience
  • Excellent Communication, leadership and planning skills
  • Strong customer service orientation and skills
  • Must be self-motivated, results oriented, and exhibit a “can do” attitude.
