Position Summary

The Director of Employee Relations is responsible for engaging with employees and senior leaders to ensure an equitable, inclusive, and respectful experience for all employees consistent with ECPI University’s policies, values, and culture.
The Director of Employee Relations must be able to perform work with little supervision, exhibit superb written and verbal communication skills, handle a variety of complex and sensitive employment situations, and demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively, lead, and influence at all levels of the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for resolving complex performance management issues, employee concerns, and disciplinary matters.
- Respond to employee complaints with federal, state, and local administrative agencies as needed.
- Handle complex situations related to reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities and leaves of absence.
- Provide direction and interpretive guidance to senior leaders on HR policy and procedure compliance, performance management, and adherence to local, state, and federal laws governing employment practices.
- Coordinate development and delivery of training on performance management best practices, conflict resolution, and mitigating and resolving employee concerns.
- Conduct regular audits of HR policies, practices, and documentation for compliance.
- Assist with data reporting and analytics to identify themes and trends; provide insights and recommendations for decision making and risk prevention.
- Partner collaboratively with HRBPs, Senior Leadership, Legal, and other stakeholders to complete thorough investigations and influence decisions where appropriate.
- Draft well-written investigation-related documents, such as senior leader/HRBP talking points, written warnings, and case summaries with little supervision.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in related field required, Master’s Degree preferred.
- 5-7 years of employee relations experience.
Skills/Abilities
- Proven expertise in conducting investigations.
- Strong understanding and knowledge of HR policies and employment law.
- Excellent decision making, problem solving, critical thinking and analysis skills.
- Strong conflict resolution and mediation skills, with the ability to remain impartial and objective.
- Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential matters with compassion and equity.
