The Muscatine County Sheriff’s Office is now accepting applications to compile a list, which will be valid for two years, for future hiring for the position of Deputy Sheriff. The position is full time and includes county health benefits and paid holidays, vacation and sick leave. Beginning salary is $28.49 per hour for an uncertified officer (additional if certified, depending on experience). Job offers will be contingent upon passing a background check (including drug testing and polygraph).

Testing will be held Saturday, June 15, 2024. Physical testing sign in will begin at 8:45 A.M., with test beginning at 9:00 A.M... (Iowa Certified Officers are exempt from physical testing). Written test (certified officers and those passing physical) will begin at 11:00 A.M. Late arrivals will not be allowed entry. Location of testing will be announced after application deadline.

Applications may be picked up at the Muscatine County Jail (400 Walnut St., Muscatine, IA), at the County Administration Office (414 E. 3rd. St. Muscatine, IA) or found online at www.muscatinecountyiowa.gov under “Employment”.

Completed applications must be returned to the Muscatine County Jail, 400 Walnut St., Muscatine, IA 52761 (Attn.: Sergeant Jacob McCleary). Incomplete or illegible applications will not be accepted.

Applications will be accepted until 4:00 P.M. Wednesday June 5, 2024. Applications received after this date and time will not be considered.
