The position will require in-depth knowledge and experience installing, configuring, hardening, and deploying complex IBM Db2 databases. Successful candidates will have extensive experience with the latest releases of IBM Db2 and be proficient with using IBM HADR to support a high availability environment. Candidates will support and provide expert guidance to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and supporting client managers as well as support applications utilizing IBM Db2. The position requires leadership skills as a member of the engineering team to provide oversight, engineering review, administration, patching, security, and deployment of Db2 databases to information systems leveraging this technology. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining various engineering artifacts and documents required by the Agency. The position requires working with development teams, system owners, support contractors, and government engineers.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years' experience with IBM Db2 to include the latest releases from IBM.
- Expert knowledge of management and strategies to support partitioned Db2 databases.
- Expert knowledge of and IBM DB2 replication using HADR, backup, optimization, and tuning;
- Experience managing, starting, and shutting down IBM Db2 environments to support upgrade, patching, and maintenance associated with Db2 databases.
- Familiar with Db2's memory and process architecture.
- Experience managing and developing strategies to manage Db2 storage structures.
- Ability to manage database security, users, groups, roles, and permissions.
- Significant experience hardening of Db2 databases to protect sensitive data using secure transmission and Data At Rest (DAR) protection techniques.
- Ability to monitor and perform backup and recovery operations of Db2 databases integrated with Veritas NetBackup.
Soft Skills
- Experience working with cross-functional teams (Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Developers, Designers, Business Analysts).
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with track record of taking solution ownership.
- Demonstrated ability to document solutions to maintain required engineering and security artifacts as well as the ability to prepare project briefings when required.
- Demonstrate an ability to effectively communicate with leadership and key stakeholders to include performing complex engineering analyses, documenting findings, preparing presentations and documents.
- Previous experience with applications operating within DoD or other Federal Agencies desired.
Education/Certifications:
- BS degree in Information Technology or other related technical discipline
- IBM Db2 certifications
- CompTIA Security+ (desired)
