ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Lead and manage a team of database administrators, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure team effectiveness and growth.
Design, implement, and maintain database systems to meet organizational needs, including capacity planning, performance tuning, and data migration.
Develop and enforce database security policies and procedures to protect sensitive data from unauthorized access or breaches.
Monitor database performance and availability, identifying and resolving issues in a timely manner to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and develop database solutions that meet organizational needs.
Evaluate and recommend database technologies, tools, and methodologies to improve efficiency, scalability, and reliability of database systems.
Develop and maintain documentation, including database schemas, configurations, and procedures, to facilitate knowledge sharing and ensure compliance with best practices.
Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in database management, participating in professional development activities and training as needed.
Able to engage in a technical discussion, issue and troubleshooting scenario, when needed.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
Proven experience (10+years) in database administration, with at least 4 years in a leadership or managerial role.
Strong technical proficiency in database management systems such as Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, etc.
Expertise in database design, performance tuning, and troubleshooting, with a deep understanding of database internals and optimization techniques.
Experience implementing and managing database security measures, including access controls, encryption, and auditing.
Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage a team and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality solutions.
