POSITION: Database Engineer

LOCATION: South Jordan, UT

COMPENSATION: Grade 12-14 (base salary $75,000 - $105,000) Depending on education and experience. Comprehensive benefit package and short-term incentive program also provided.

RESPONSIBILITY:

Responsible for the Association’s data management and writing, analyzing, maintaining, and running reports/queries/extracts using that data. The information will be used by the board, management, staff, regulator, auditors, etc. Obtaining an understanding of current processes and making recommendations to further improve through centralization, common platform, consistency, and/or gained efficiency will be a large aspect of this role. Responsibilities also include:

  • Design and implement secure, scalable, on premise and highly available cloud platform database solutions (Azure and MS-SQL)
  • Monitor system's health and performance.
  • Migrate existing legacy database solutions to gold standard cloud platforms.
  • Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes.
  • Analyze database systems problems and provide problem resolutions.
  • Assist with production documentation.
  • Maintain and develop processes for optimizing database security.
  • Respond to security issues and requests.
  • Set and maintain database standards, manage database access.
  • Install and manage database applications.
  • Diagnose and trouble shoot database errors and functionality.
  • Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refining.
  • Share domain/technical mentorship and cross training with peers/team.
  • Stay current on database technologies, recommend and implement changes.
  • Develop and implement database backup and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Use scripting/configuration tools to automate administrative database tasks.
  • Awareness of the business processes being supported.
  • Follow policy, standards, and regulatory requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a field related to IT, computer science, or similar database certifications and experience.
  • Three or more years of experience in database administration, database architecture or related field.
  • Proficient with MS SQL on Premise and Cloud (Azure) RDBMS systems
  • Experience with data warehouse and data lake technologies is a plus
  • Strong understanding of reporting tools and Power BI/Automate
  • Background with programing languages - proficient with SQL
  • Experience with both transactional and analytical data processing
  • Ability to interact effectively with management and employees
  • Competent to work independently in most phases of database management with strong understanding of the administration of data collection, analysis, and distribution.
  • An analytical mindset with problem-solving skills along with strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds or more
