Job Summary:
The SQL Server DBA will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical SQL Server RDBMS systems, to ensure the availability and consistent performance of county applications. Other duties include providing application support for server based applications. This is a “hands-on” position requiring solid technical skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Administers the day-to-day operational readiness of the Solano County Database Infrastructure
- Responds to daily service requests or trouble calls using the Service Now Ticketing system.
- Ability to communicate with people with various levels of technical knowledge
- Diagnostic and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot problems and find solutions,
- Responds to database and application outages promptly keeping all parties informed of the process
- Ability to logically trace application issues and find resolutions
- Ability to manage several projects simultaneously from design to implementation
- Works with various IT Service towers to resolve complex issues and or project support
- Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities
Education and Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in a similar position and/or any combination of education and experience that clearly demonstrates the ability to perform the job duties of the position. Certifications preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- 5+ years of MS SQL Server experience required
- Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools
- Experience with backup, restore and recovery models
- Knowledge of High-Availability and Disaster Recovery options for SQL Server
- Experience working with Windows Server including Active Directory
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Flexible team player
- Ability to organize and plan work independently
- Ability to multi-task and context-switch between different activities and teams
- Ability to pass and maintain a Sheriff CLETS enhanced background check
