We are looking for a highly motivated Database Administrator - ETL Specialist located in Columbus, OH that can operate in a fast-paced and demanding start-up like environment of a micro-cap publicly-traded company.
Position Summary
The Database Administrator (DBA) - Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) Specialist plays a crucial role in designing, developing, and optimizing ETL workflows, ensuring seamless data flow within the organization. In addition, the DBA - ETL Specialist is responsible for assisting with designing, implementing, maintaining, and repairing the database. At times, they plan, develop, and troubleshoot the database.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Design, develop, and maintain robust ETL processes to support data integration needs.
- Extract and transform data from diverse sources into formats suitable for analysis and reporting.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into effective ETL solutions.
- Monitor and optimize the performance of ETL processes to ensure efficiency and scalability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data integration and ETL workflows.
- Work closely with data architects and other database team members to design data models that support ETL processes.
- Create and maintain documentation for ETL processes, data mappings, and transformations.
- Maintaining WidePoint's databases but can also specialize in developing databases.
- Establish the necessity of the user access and monitor their security and access.
- Monitoring the performance and managing the parameters to give fast responses to users.
- Mapping out the conceptual design for a database.
- Processing the logical design in a way that can be converted to a specific data model.
- Refining the physical design to meet the requirements of system storage.
- Installing and testing the new version of the database management system.
- Writing documentation for a database, including data standards, procedures, and metadata.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
The minimum qualifications include:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science and other related fields.
- Proven experience as a Database Administrator with a strong emphasis on ETL processes.
- Proficiency in SQL and scripting languages; experience with ETL tools such as SSIS, Informatica, or AWS Glue.
- Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and data quality principles.
- At least two (2) years of related experience are required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and, at times, stressful environment.
