Key Responsibilities: Serve as a primary support for our Sybase and SQL Server environments, participating actively in our migration journey from Sybase to SQL Server over the next three years. Demonstrate proficiency in Unix, specifically in running and developing CRON jobs and command-line operations, to support our Sybase ASE 15.7 environment. Engage in various DBA tasks, including after-hours implementations, to optimize the workload of senior DBAs and contribute to weekly data fixes. Assist in lightening the load on our SQL Server DBAs, requiring familiarity with Windows Servers, SQL Server, clustering, and disaster recovery practices in development, test, and production environments. Participate in an on-call rotation from Saturday morning to Monday morning after an initial period of acclimatization, with rare instances of overtime and weekend work subject to scheduling and approval. Qualifications: Experience with both Sybase and SQL Server environments; familiarity with Sybase ASE 15.7 is a plus. Strong background in Unix and experience with command-line interfaces. Capable of working in a structured change control environment and adept at troubleshooting. Experience or strong interest in participating in migration projects from Sybase to SQL Server is highly desirable. Willingness to commit to a 40-hour workweek, Monday through Friday, with a hybrid model of two days on-site.
