Title: Database Administrator

Location: Dallas, TX - Hybrid 3x per week

Duration: Ongoing Contract

USC, GC & EAD Holders will work

Job Details:

• Led and executed the cloud migration projects from Azure to Azure Data Lake, ensuring a smooth transition with minimal downtime.
• Implement best practices for database security and compliance with data privacy regulations, incorporating access controls, encryption, and auditing mechanisms.
• Proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, working closely with development teams to optimize query performance, indexing strategies, and resource utilization.
• Implement and maintain robust monitoring solutions to provide real-time insights into database health, ensuring proactive issue resolution.
• Conduct regular health checks, capacity planning, and upgrade/migration activities to maintain system reliability and stability.
• Perform essential database administration tasks, including installation, configuration, monitoring, tuning, backup, recovery, and troubleshooting.
• Innovate and implement automation solutions for routine tasks, reducing manual efforts and improving operational efficiency.
• Implement and manage database replication, CDC, Always On, WFC, and high-availability solutions for continuous operation and disaster recovery.
• Design, develop, and enhance ETL processes using Azure Data Factory or other tools to seamlessly integrate data from diverse sources into the database.
• Collaborate with teams to optimize and streamline data transformation pipelines.
• Collaborate with the teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues efficiently using Azure Insights, Monitoring, DMVs, Query Store, etc.
• Provide expert counsel on database design principles, ensuring the development of scalable, high-performance solutions that align with industry best practices. Offer strategic insights to optimize database structures, enhancing efficiency, and fostering adherence to established best practices.
• Leverage TSQL, and PowerShell scripting to automate routine tasks, enabling proactive monitoring, maintenance, and issue resolution.

Key Skills:

• Data Lake Administration: Your responsibilities will shift towards managing data stored in Azure Data Lake Storage, including organizing data into directories, setting permissions, and monitoring data ingestion and processing.
• Data Lake Security and Governance: You'll play a key role in implementing security measures and governance policies for data stored in the data lake, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and protecting sensitive information.
• Data Lake Integration and Processing: You'll work on integrating data from various sources into the data lake, optimizing data ingestion pipelines, and collaborating with data engineers and developers to implement data processing workflows using tools like Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse Analytics, or Apache Spark.
• Performance Optimization: Your focus will include optimizing the performance of data lake storage and processing solutions, tuning data ingestion pipelines, and improving query performance to ensure efficient data access and analysis.
• Monitoring and Troubleshooting: You'll be responsible for monitoring the health and performance of the data lake environment, diagnosing issues, and troubleshooting errors to ensure continuous availability and reliability of data lake services.
• Training and Knowledge Sharing: As an experienced DBA, you can leverage your expertise to train team members on data lake concepts, best practices, and tools, fostering a culture of learning and knowledge sharing within the organization.
