CHB Team Lead

This position is located in Baltimore, MD.

Supports a base group of client accounts by managing a team of Customs Entry Writers and/or clients, expediting their shipments from start to finish by development of familiarity with their import programs and products; through an understanding of Customs regulations and international transportation; by coordinating file processing with team members and other Company work groups. Directs and coordinates superior client service delivery and production activities of defined team within our Customs Brokerage operation. Executes these activities in support of the established Maersk Customs Services policies, goals, and objectives and in full compliance with CBP regulations. Serves as a subject matter expert for existing and new customers on CHB matters. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned which are "client specific" to satisfy special customer needs. These responsibilities are achieved by performance of the following duties personally or through subordinate team members.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

-Development of complete familiarity with client import programs and set organizational plans for the department on the handling of the specific clients, this includes the following:

  • Products
  • Classifications and Special Customs Details
  • Other government agency compliance requirements
  • Carriers
  • Delivery Specifications
  • Billing Requirements
  • Special Reports
  • A/R Status
  • Client Specific needs and requirements

-Set operational, goals and objectives for the department

-Measure and monitor results against KPI’s established and hold any supervisory level colleagues accountable.

-Resolve large or complex issues, and put corrective action in place

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent work experience; HS Diploma or equivalent required
  • 5-7 years of experience in the industry
  • 2-3 years previous management experience

Technical Skills and Competencies Required:

  • A strong execution minded manager with strong financial technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment and strong operational focus including an understanding of systems.
  • Strong understanding of transportation industry
  • Excellent communication skills can relate to people at all levels of an organization.
  • A well organized and self-directed individual who is a team player, excellent conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to be resourceful, creative and maintain flexibility, manage resources effectively and efficiently
  • Ability to train, coach, evaluate and mentor.
  • Strong thought leadership and influencing skills, ability to engage multiple business units to develop solutions.
  • Strong and current knowledge of technology platforms, MS Office products and ability to quickly adapt to new software.

General office setting, typically the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work, usually at a computer terminal – with short breaks or lunch period. However, there may be some bending/stooping, reaching above shoulder level, walking; standing; carrying of light items such as papers, books or packages of up to 25 pounds. Should be able to hear and speak clearly using phone / headset to communicate with customers; be able to navigate, view & enter information on the computer.

Expected Working Hours

This position and generally requires availability for a 40 hour work week during standard business hours. The position also requires availability for nights, weekends, and holidays, based on customer and/or business needs, to include adjustments for global time zone differences. We offer flex work.
