Our Team
Microsoft Worldwide Learning (WWL) is looking for an experienced writer to join the Modern Work (aka Microsoft 365) team. We create content for Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Copilot, Windows, SharePoint, and other technologies across Microsoft 365 tools. Our content portfolio includes certifications such as Microsoft 365 Teams Administrator, Microsoft 365 Administrator and learning paths such as Build Apps With Microsoft Graph just to name a few. We bring clarity to the complex and help learners build skills to achieve more in their career. You’ll contribute to new certifications that help learners get jobs in the Microsoft ecosystem. Your words will help people in all kinds of organizations achieve their goals for their business and their employees using Microsoft 365.

The Role
We’re looking for a highly creative and tech-savvy Content Developer to help learners build new skills, prepare, and certify on Microsoft 365 technologies. You’ll join the team in creating great content to build Microsoft credentials, ILT (Instructor Led) courses, Learn paths, hands-on experiences, and courseware that supports learners in their career journey. You’ll create timely content experiences to help people learn, collaborate with others, and create impactful credentials and technical content to support learners around the world.

You’ll work with fellow world-class designers, content creators, and engineering teams. You’ll use data to understand our learner needs and help them have the amazing experiences they expect. With that data, you’re empowered to make content changes to improve the experience and quality. You’ll have an opportunity to gain insight into the future of technology and help shape its impact on millions of customers around the globe.

Responsibilities


  • Design, author, and publish the highest quality learning experiences for Microsoft 365 audiences (e.g. Administrator, Developer, & End-User). This includes online content, instructor lead content, hands on labs, text, videos, images, and interactive activities.
  • Work with Microsoft Product, Field Sales, and Business Groups to curate content as well as create, refine, and align the learning experience with all technical and product cycles.
  • Implementing qualitative and quantitative analysis, with a drive to learn more about our customers’ needs through experimentation and customer research
  • Making strategic decisions and prioritizing work based on the positive impact it will provide customers and businesses
  • Maintaining the integrity of the Microsoft brand by applying our voice principles through consistent tone, clarity, concision and always making sure people know we are there for them
  • Performing functional and editorial quality assurance on content as appropriate
  • Participating in collaboration sessions with fellow writers, designers, and product managersCreative collaboration and problem-solving skills while working with ambiguity
  • Grabbing coffee (or tea) with a colleague to connect or even to hear what they’re excited about and how you can help

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications
  • 3+ years experience in writing, content design, information technology (IT), or coding/programming
    • OR equivalent experience.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications
  • Instructional design knowledge and experience creating and delivering engaging and high-quality technical content and/or certification content on time
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 / Office 365 in migrating, administering, hybridization, or troubleshooting environments
  • Experience identifying stakeholders, gathering dependencies, and managing change
  • Project management and cross-group collaboration written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate effectively in a friendly but professional voice that is tuned to different audiences
  • Technical skills:
    • Experience in PowerShell and working in the command-line
    • Experience in GitHub and Markdown
Technical Writing IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,300 - $182,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $120,900 - $198,600 per year.
