Primary Purpose of Position

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the position holder is responsible for the strategic and tactical implementation of total compensation package for all team members including analysis and administration of base wages, benefits, and incentives. The Compensation & Benefits Specialist remains current with market and industry trends to ensure the Company’s total compensation and benefits package is aligned with strategy and business goals while remaining fair, equitable and competitive.

Major Responsibilities of Position

Analysis and Decision-Making

· Participate in salary and labor market surveys to determine prevailing pay rates and benefits.

· Use various methods and techniques to analyze trends and make data driven recommendations for the design of employee total compensation packages.

· Provide data and participate in annual reviews of pay bands and grading, annual incentive programs, and benefit renewals.

· Remain current with state and federal laws and regulations regarding compensation and benefits.

· Assist with and provide recommendations for creating/updating, implementing and enforcing compensation and benefits policies and procedures.

Administration

· Administer the Company’s 401k plan including validation of bi-weekly deferrals, loan deductions, and contributions, new enrollments, hardship withdrawal requests, quarterly investment strategy meetings, annual compliance testing and audits, and processing of regulatory documentation (i.e. 5500’s) and notices.

· Validate time cards and process accurate bi-weekly payroll for exempt and non-exempt employees (hourly and salary).

· Review monthly invoices from providers to ensure accurate billing for benefits (i.e. medical, dental, vision, disability, life, etc.).

· Responsible for leave administration (i.e. FMLA, Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability, Workers Compensation Leave, etc.), ensuring adequate communication to necessary stakeholders, timely processing, and maintaining up-to-date information in all relevant systems (i.e. vendor portals, time and attendance system, payroll system, etc.).

· Assist employees with important paperwork for insurance policies, retirement plans, taxes, wellness programs and leaves.

Problem Solving

· Perform internal audits to ensure all systems are accurate and up-to-date and EDI feeds between carriers are in proper working order. Identify and address any failures in the system by identifying root cause and countermeasures for timely correction and preventative maintenance.

Communication

· Participate in new employee onboarding to communicate compensation and benefits related information.

· Design and deliver benefits related training programs for employees (i.e. investment strategies, retirement planning, smart health care usage, wellness programs, etc.).

· Provide timely communication to vendors regarding any inaccuracies or invoicing errors.

· Partner with benefit vendors, advisors, and investment brokers to maintain positive relationships, ensuring the best interests of both the Company and employees are met.

· Lead annual open enrollment activities and health/wellness fairs.

· Understand relevant stakeholders who have access to/a right to know compensation and benefit related information and maintain the highest level of confidentiality.

· Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for key stakeholders.

Other duties and tasks as required, including special projects as they arise.

Physical Demands

· Ability to sit, stand and walk.

· Must be able to talk and hear over 2/3 of the time.

· Must have the ability to tolerate the above requirements for a minimum of 8 hours daily.

Work Environment

· Automotive manufacturing environment; salary office supporting role with standard hours of 7:00 am to 4:00 pm. Position is overtime exempt; however additional hours may be required to ensure task accomplishment is expected.

· Production environment: 5% of the time, includes exposure to industrial safety hazards, loud and sudden noises, hot/humid conditions. Extreme temperatures during the summer and winter months can be expected.

· Office environment: 95% of the time, busy office with frequent interruptions and multi-tasking required; standard office equipment available.

Experience, Educational and Certification Requirements

Associates (or higher) degree in Accounting, Human Resources, Business Administration for other related discipline (or equivalent combination of formal education and work-related experience).

Minimum of five years of payroll, 401k and benefits administration experience within an automotive manufacturer (OEM or supplier)

Previous experience with wage trend analysis, total compensation analysis, benefit negotiation, and 401k compliance.

Knowledge of industry Total Rewards best practices.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $59,629.00 - $74,537.00 per year
